Celine Is Coming...Uh, Eventually

CelineCeline Dion is coming to Tampa!!!

In 2009.

Well, at least she gave us time to plan.

The umpteen-octave, chest-pounding belter released her "Taking Chances World Tour" itinerary today. And Tampa's St. Pete Times Forum is the second-to-last stop: Jan. 28, 2009.

Say what you will about her. But after that epic run in Vegas, she could have retired. Instead, she's displaying the work ethic of Wayne Newton. I'm impressed. (But I still don't like her much.)

Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 19 at 10a.m. at the MCDONALD’S BOX OFFICE at the St. Pete Times Forum and all Ticketmaster Outlets. To order tickets by phone, call Ticketmaster at 813.287.8844 or 727.898.2100.

Tickets are priced at $46.75, $77.75, $112.75 and $152.75.

Those are high, but not as crazy as I expected.

In celebration of this momentous event, here are The Only Celine Dion Songs That Don't Make Me Queasy:

3. It's All Coming Back to Me Now
2. If You Asked Me To
1. If I Can Dream (duet with Elvis)

She did a cover of Heart's "Alone" on Oprah yesterday. I cried ... tears of dread!
She did the cover of Roy Orbinson/Cyndi Lauper "Drove All Night" I nearly ran off the road the first time I heard it.
I admit she can belt out a tune, but being really loud for 4.5 minutes when no screaming guitars are involved is just insane.

My husband & I have seen her in Vegas 3 times. Ticket prices were sky high but worth every penny. Not only does she have an umpteen-octave voice, she sings a wide variety of music and can dance up a storm. She's very personable & interacts with the audience. Check out her new video, "This Time", about an abused woman. Be sure to get a tissue first. I predict a #1 slot & hopefully it will help some women in similar situations.

Right on, Rose. I was in Vegas recently, and the Celine fans were in full force. She's easy to tease, but apparently just as easy to adore. If you're able to score Celine Dion tickets in Sin City, you're a player.

I haven't seen the Vegas show but have seen her live. She's the real deal. Go Sean if you can. It is worth it.

I really wish she would release an album where can totally rock out. Her cover of You Shook Me All Night Long with Anastcia (another fav) is surprisingly good.

I can't stand her songs but I respect her, as a fellow Canuck. She is immensely talented.

Fun fact: Celine was in my Grade 10 French book, along with Roch Voisine. We had to listen to some of her early French songs.......surprisingly good.
