HELP WANTED: The 4-Hour Party Mix

Party

So as I was telling the ladies last night...

A good friend (and editor) is leaving the paper, and I'm in charge of iPod DJing the going-away shindig this upcoming Friday. I need four to five hours of music. Maybe dancing will break out, maybe not. I'd guess it's gonna be a nod-your-head, drink-and-flirt kinda party. However, there's gotta be a good beat and a cool vibe to the tunes.

I put together a rough cut last night: Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Moby, Stan Getz, Madonna, Rihanna, Tom Jones, Elvis Costello, Kanye West, James Addiction, Beck...

I figure I'll load up the dancier stuff toward the middle and end, when everyone's properly lubed up.

NOW GIVE ME MORE!!!!

Comments

By the way, you '80s fans will be happy to know I just watched a classic Season 2 Magnum P.I. with the jarring climactic line: "Nuns don't work on Sundays." I got chills, I tell you, chills.

The FF and Lulu are sacked out. I'm guzzling beer and indulging in a mini-Magnum marathon. Does life get any better? No. No, it doesn't.

Sean!! Did you see what Spears tried to do today while he was working? He attempted a repeat of what we had last night.
The "Get Shorty" Soundtrack has some delightful head boppin' rhythms to it. Although, I suggested that last night.

How about some Fat Boy Slim? Apollo 440 "Can't Stop the Rock" ~ totally sucky movie, but a great dance scene in "Boys and Girls" with Freddie Prinze, Jr. Foam sprays all over the dance floor when they are dancing to that song.

All by my self...don't wanna be..all by myself, anymore.
Sean, put down the brewsky, turn off Thomas Magnum and get to typing!
If I don't keep my hands busy something horrible might occur: I'll eat the Lindor Truffles sitting on my desk.

What kind of beer are you drinking? As my lit professor used to say, God is in the details. And that's an important one.

My two cents, straight from the top of my naturally curly hair:

In keeping with the Otis and Sam Cooke, might I suggest some James Hunter, just to keep things interesting. Totally dig his retro-soul sound.

For something cool and atmospheric, what about Bitter:Sweet and "The Mating Game" -- I'm partial to "Dirty Laundry" and the title track. Or something from the Beastie Boys latest all-instrumental album.

Gnarls Barkley's version of "Gone Daddy Gone" makes me get my groove on regardless of where I am when I hear it.

Yea! Jane is here. Perhaps the truffles still stand a chance at survival.

I'm actually supposed to be packing for a trip, but I'm easily distracted by lots of things when faced with this task. Like the I Love the '80s marathon on VH1 Classic. Or the internet.

Sean, much to the chagrin of Steve, how about something from Red Carpet Massacre? Skin Divers, Tricked Out, Tempted -- definitely something after drinks have settled into the blood stream and inhibitions are being set aside.
And while I'm on Timbaland collaborations: Nelly Furtado~No Hay Igual, Promiscuous, Maneater, Glow, Do It ...man, I liked this CD more than I realized

I have a lot of other stuff I could be doing, but this amuses me far more.

Jane, I briefly looked at your blog. I intend on greater perusal when I'm not obsessed with Sean's playlist.

Hmmm, "A Drink -n- flirt party where everyone gets properly lubed up"... Marissa, Jane.. You guys up for a road trip? Or is that the trip you're packing for Jane?

Jane... Like the music you added to the list. I like Gnarles Barkley, "Crazy" came to mind!

Marissa... Thanks for the myspace add! I agree with you on the Timbaland cd, my friend had it in the car the other day, good stuff!

Sean... Oh Sean, where are you?

I was just booty shakin' to Robert Randolph and the Family Band. That might be a little rough for such a gathering, but it's great for dancing in my living room.

Santogold MUST go on the party mix. You listened to her much? She's my new obsession. She's on the Ronson album, but "Pretty Green" is lame compared to "Creator" and "You'll Find a Way." They're SICK songs. Seriously. My new girl crush.

Jane! You never fail to amaze...Gnarls' "Gone Daddy Gone" is already on there.

Marissa, one again you toy with my heartstrings. Robert Randolph is so good, it's scary. He makes pickin' the sacred steel a full-contact sport.

And Carla, you complete my Charlie Angels fantasies. I saw Spears trying to run up the score on us. But really now, who could re-create the magic of last night?

Stephanie!!! Pretty Green reminds me of The Tom Tom Club. I love that Mark Ronson CD. I'm so glad I trusted Sean on that one.

By the way, Marissa, you referring to him as "Thomas Magnum" is making me dizzy. Do you know his middle name? No cheating now. Off the top of your pretty head.

Oh, oh, oh it's Magic..you know-oh-oh, Never believe it's not so.
Sean, so glad you can join us!

Sean, if I answer correctly what do I get?

Wait! What? THE Stephanie Hayes??? Lemme suck in my gut, put on a tie, re-apply my toupee glue.

Not Marissa, but... Sullivan.

I can never not answer the siren call of a good trivia question...

Charlies Angels, huh... You are Charlie right, not Bosley!! Did Charlie's Angels ever have a red-head angel??

Last night was fun and great! Are we trying for a repeat tonight?

I'm only stopping by to say hi at the end of my Saturday shift. Can't stay for the all night blog party, sadly. But check out those songs! You'll be bobbing in the bar like Jeff in Cuba.

Sean, leave everything as it is. To quote 70s cheese, "don't go changin'...to try and please me"

Hey Hayes -- are you gonna make a quickie cameo at that going-away party? I know you gotta rock Ybor that night. But c'mon, make my night...

Aw hell, Jane! I knew it and grrrrrr

I had to go and be flirty rather than get to the matter at hand.

Jane, Jane, Jane -- if the Forever Fiancee weren't here whipping me with her shower towel, well, I'd cybersmooch you all over. Nice work on the Mag trivia.

I had to go and be flirty and I missed my chance to impress Sean!

I might be able to come for a smidge, but I have to leave enough time to change into my Diana Ross dress and apply flase lashes for showtime at 9. Could be crunchy.

Sean, I think people are already talking about your 100 post blog from last night!

You spend some time on your blog and all of a sudden you're like a chick magnet!

Steppin' Out - Joe Jackson
Will It Go Round in Circles - Billy Preston
Green Onions - Booker T & The MGs
Lazy - David Byrne
Rise - Herb Albert
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
Stuck In the Middle With You - Stealers Wheel
The Moneymaker - Rilo Kiley
Big Spender - Shirley Bassey
Sexbomb - Tom Jones
Turn Back the Hands of Time - Tyrone Davis
You're Gonna Miss Me - 13th Floor Elevators

I'm bad when it comes to trivia -- very competitive. It's a blessing and a curse. Lo siento. You may have the prize if one is offered...

Ok, i just experienced some weird Matrix like thing here. One second several posts were there, then there were less. Now, they are back again. YIKES! Spears has something to do with this.

Booker T. and the MGs! That's nothing short of brilliant, DG. When I was in Memphis this year, I picked up a great Booker comp at the Stax museum. Consider it played.

Sean, I suggested that last night

Thanks Marissa... I thought it was me. Either the Blog Lords didn't like me calling Sean a chick magnet or some weird was going on, some posts disappeared on me too!

"Stomp your feet if you like my beat...I like it like that, Heyyyyyyyyyyyy baby..I like it like that" The Blackout Allstars

Sean, have you added Jamiroquai?

Is that Booker T compilation available online (through Rhino perhaps)? I'd like to get that.

Sure fire crowd pleaser:

"Girlfriend" - Matthew Sweet

Timeless pop tune; the 70's crowd, the 80's crew, the 90's kids and even today's snot-nosed runts will all swear it's from their era.

Let me see if I can think of anything else.

Yeah! It's JEFF!!

Okay, Rock Stars -- the FF and Kid Lulu are calling out for Chinese food and movies. In fact, Lu is sticking her fingers in my nose as I type. I'm taking that as a signal to sign-off for now.

I'll check in later, tho.

And I really think Marissa should host a cyber-soiree one of these days. Let's break in her home with a sexy, saucy blog-warming party. Maybe I'll even do my patented Dance of the Seven Buttons. You never know...

awwww yeah..Shakira Shakira...she make a man want to speak Spanish. "oh baby when you talk like that, you make a woman go mad...my hips don't lie"
Sorry, I got carried away with my iTunes playlist.

Uh, LULU! Don't put your fingers in there! Ack, honey "you can pick your nose, you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your friend's nose or your daddy's nose."

Sweet! Scissor Sisters just came on. "Kiss you off" I'm going to shake my bon bon for a few...ya'll talk amongst yourselves.

How about some Voice Of The Beehive?

"Perfect Place" is a favorite, but as background music I'd recommend "I Think I Love You". I can almost see your party guests with their heads cocked like the dog on the RCA label, running through their mental Rolodex as they try to place the tune. Then, pow, the light bulb pops up over them like the dome light in the multi-colored school bus.

Excellent suggestion, Jeff. "Girlfriend" is a quintessential pop song. And it reminded me of a couple more of my poppy party faves:

"Dyslexic Heart" -- Paul Westerberg
"I'll Be You" -- The Replacements
"I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" -- The Jayhawks (LOVE!)
"I Got You" -- Split Enz

Excellent choice Marissa... Shakira! If that doesn't get people moving! I do like Objection (Tango). Talk about dancing around the livingroom!!

Oh Jane! Split Enz! Love it.

"Dsylexic", "I'll Be You" and "Girlfriend" are on the same party mix I put together last year for an event I've long since forgotten.

"I Got You" is another good choice, although around here you're more likely to hear "Six Months In A Leaky Boat" because the kids like it (none of my 80's stuff matters to them until the Wiggles cover it!)

We've also been listening to Crowded House's "Weather With You", which is essentially a Split Enz tune (Tim Finn joined his brother on the "Woodface" album.) "Weather" is more of an early mix tune, more suited to meeting and greeting than rocking and rolling.

Jeff! Great minds think alike -- I just unearthed a playlist for a mix CD I made for some friends who wanted a dose of jangly power pop, which included the aforementioned songs and these others:

"There She Goes"/The Las
"Stacy's Mom"/Fountains of Wayne
"Turn a Square"/The Shins
"Pulling Mussels" (From a Shell)"/Squeeze
"Why Can't I"/Liz Phair
"And We Danced"/The Hooters
"Clear Spot"/The Pernice Brothers
"Cruel To Be Kind"/Nick Lowe
"Dyslexic Heart"/Paul Westerberg
"Girlfriend"/Matthew Sweet
"Go All The Way"/Raspberries
"Here Comes Your Boyfriend"/The Buckners
"Hey Jealousy"/Gin Blossoms
"I Got You"/Split Enz
"I'll Be You"/The Replacements
"I'm Gonna Make You Love Me"/Jayhawks
"If She Knew What She Wants"/The Bangles
"Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)"/Monkees
"Time for You"/The Tories
"Phone Call #27"/Admiral Twin
"The Way I Want to Be"/The Village Green
"She Is"/The Fray

And I dream of the day The Wiggles cover something that doesn't send me round the bend...

I'm so delighted that my son missed the Wiggles scene. He's 13. Luckily he's not much into High School Musical, either. He's drawn to Fall Out Boy, 80s music (I wonder who influenced him), Bon Jovi, Queen. I did endure the tail-end of the Barney years. I managed to enjoy Blue's Clues and Arthur.

The ideas are finally starting to flow.

Marshall Crenshaw: "Someday, Someway" or "Whenever You're On My Mind". Everybody loves Marshall (they just don't know it yet!)

Michael Stanley Band: "He Can't Love You" Straight up raver from a man I predict you'll see one day in the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame (because he lives in Cleveland)

Graham Parker: "Life Gets Better" The best Elvis Costello song never written or performed by Elvis Costello.

And of course...

The Producers: "Certain Kinda Girl" in the first hour, "What's He Got" somewhere in the middle, and "She, Sheila" in the last 10 minutes. Just another Machiavellian move in my plot to grant my favorite band retroactive 80's glory!

Jane, I think I've played the majority of those songs on my show at some point, and most of the rest just made my "gotta play soon" list.

However, no power pop playlist is complete without these two classic 1979 songs, the Dead Sea Scrolls of 80's Power Pop:

Back Of My Hand - The Jags

Starry Eyes - The Records

Well, gosh darn golly! Jeff and Jane are encyclopedias of musical information. I'm taking notes, kids. Keep it coming.

Marissa, my kids are 2, 5, 8, and 10, so I get Teletubbies, Wiggles, High School Musical and everything in between. You've probably never been exposed to the technicolor freak show that is "Yo Gabba Gabba". Check this out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9PqjMSNfkU

To be fair, I bring the kids in to the studio with me every now and then, and while they can be a little shy about talking on the air, they always impress me with their playlist.

I've seen Yo Gabba Gabba on the program listing. I just asked my son if he knows what it is. He said, "it's a show with puppets and stuff."

I love that my son can sing along to CDs I have playing in the car, or will surprise me by spontaneously singing a song I had no idea he knew, but I love. He pays attention. That's a good thing.

ACK! Now I know why my Dad vacated the house when my brother and I were watching HR Puffnstuf (I'm sure Sid and Marty Kroft WERE huffin and puffin some stuff). That clip reminded me of that program.
Wow! I have one child. I can't imagine having 4 spanning that many years. Egads! Your wife must be amazing.

"Amazing" ain't the half of it.

Military mother of four, fifth house in the last 10 years, PTO president, parish council secretary, school photographer, the list goes on and on.

Ahh, HR Puffnstuf!! (Witchiepoo was my fav). Just bought a box set on DVD for my oldests sisters b-day last year! Fun to rewatch. But much like the original "Land of the Lost"... really, really bad tv!!

I'm telling you, those programs were like ACID trips for kids.

Your wife sounds uber-amazing, Jeff. And you are obviously and rightfully proud of her. I love that she's the school photographer -- very cool.

How about

I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow
You Dropped a Bomb on Me - GAP Band
Shakin' - Eddie Money

Hey Sparky! I didn't hear you come in because Rainbow "Street of Dreams" was blaring.

Just watching my Penn State Nittany Lions and dropped by the blog. Saw you girls and Sean were burning the midnight oil last night.

Yeah, we're cyber-party maniacs. Now Sean can boast that he kept 3 women up all night and all went to sleep fully satisfied; yet craving more.

You folks are nuts..and I dig that about you!

The FF and I just watched "Juno." Brilliant, I say. If that doesn't win best original screenplay at the Oscars, they should nuke the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Really, might even be the best movie of the year.

Oh, and if DG ever checks back in...

My Booker T. comp is a 2006 release from the revived Stax Records, now distributed by Concord Music. Worth the money if only for the Elvis Costello liners.

Groovy, Sean. I rarely watch the Oscars anymore due to me yelling at the TV. I screamed when Little Miss Sunshine didn't win best picture. grrr I think that was the year Broke Back Mountain won.

I have a buddy in Toronto who said the exact same thing about "Juno." He raved about Ellen Page.

A commercial break in the Patriots game...

What I love about this crew -- besides the orgiastic undercurrents and cheap sex jokes -- is the psychic musical connection.

In other words, I was cranking the Marshall Crenshaw this very morning -- and then he appears on the blog. Have we EVER talked about Crenshaw before? No. But alas, "Whenever You're on My Mind."

Okay, back to the game...

Pretty damn good game, dontcha think? I've been half watching while doing other things -- although it's weirding me out to hear Bryant Gumble doing play-by-play.

Ya know, it's a shame we all don't live closer. We could start a musical/CD/playlist equivalent to a Quilting-Bee.

Every last one of you guys will flip for "Juno."

And once we've ALL seen it, we'll have a good ol' bloggy bed-in and talk about the flick. (For what it's worth, the soundtrack is faboo, too.)

Oh! I can't even pretend to know football. I dated a guy in GA who tried desperately to help me understand and love college football. It's a religion only second to being Baptist.

C'mon Ride The Train - Quad City DJs
September - Earth Wind & Fire
Getting Away With It - Electronic
Real Wild Child (Wild One) - Iggy Pop
Girls - the Beastie Boys
Hyperactive - Robert Palmer
Flamethrower - J. Geils Band
What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy) - Information Society
I Can't Wait - Nu Shooz
Stay With Me Tonight - Jeffrey Osborne
Every Little Step - Bobby Brown
Rush (Single version) - Big Audio Dynamite

Supermassive Blackhole ~ Muse

Bassnote,

What about Thomas Dolby's "Hyperactive"?

Sean,

Why don't you take a little of your own advice and add "Working Class Man" to the mix? It would seem to be the perfect tune for an office function (much more subtle than "Take This Job And Shove It")

TD's Hyperactive is great, and should definitely make the playlist. Good call Jeff. I put Robert Palmer's Hyperactive because it is a great danceable tune, and one of his more under appreciated songs.

Jeff,

Is there any way we 80's nuts who are stateside can hear your show?

Sean ~ DEE-LITE "Groove is in the Heart"
I would dance my fantanafanny off to this song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKTCW4oxS6I

The staff at the radio station has started recording all of my live shows. (They say they're doing it for "training purposes", which I guess is better than "legal purposes".)

I can convert the recorded shows into an .mp3 file, so technically I guess they could be podcast. The problem is moving a 120-minute, 50MB file from the back end of a communist country can be problematic. My internet is via satellite, so the pipe is thin.

Bummer. I'd really love to hear your show, but I understand the problems. keep trying to get Steve and sean down there for a podcast.

I figure I can fit about 12 shows onto a CD, so once I get a dozen good ones (and that may take a while), I can dump them onto to discs and mail them out to the hardcore 80's Nation.

Hey Sean,

If I mailed you and Steve a couple of shows, could your technical wizards make them available to the rest of the crew?

Back on the party mix topic...

The Communards: "Don't Leave Me This Way" and/or "Never Can Say Goodbye"

These upbeat, danceable covers will speak to the feet of the hipsters, but will still be recognizable to the hip replacement-sters.

I'm all about something for everyone!

Oh man! That'd be so cool! It would be Christmas in

Wizards? Oy. More like who has the Bondo and scotch tape?

But Spears might be able to patchwork something where people could access a gaggle of your shows via his blog. That'd be killer. Gotta say I'm might curious to hear your smooth DJ stylings as well.

And about all of us living close...

The only people who would ultimately benefit from that arrangement would be divorce lawyers and headline writers.

Merry mayhem for a short sweet while...and then decadent disaster.

crud! Where'd the rest of my post go?
I'm listening to "Don't Leave Me This Way" by The Communards at this very moment, Jeff...naturally, at your suggestion.

Little known Sparky fact. Sparky was a college DJ. You talking about smooth, I was as smooth as a Country Road after a mudslide.

Oh, come on now, Sean! I'd behave myself.

I hear your suggestions for dancier party stuff, but therein lies my trepidation -- "Groove Is in the Heart" is a tremendous song. But if no one's dancing to it, can you say a-w-k-w-a-r-d? That said, no risk, no reward.

I'm thinking I'll have a backup "Solid Gold" mix if all drunken, dirty-dancing hell breaks loose.

How about throwing "The Chicken Dance" in there or what about something from the The Polish Prince.

For crying out loud! You do that and people will be asking if you have The Macarena or Cha Cha slide!

Throwing Nouvelle Vague up against the blog wall to see if it sticks... and tossing some Bitter:Sweet ("The Mating Game" and/or "Dirty Laundry") alongside it. Cool, loungy kinda stuff. Good music to drink to.

The Chicken Dance and alcohol mix very well, thank you. I can't help it.

Radio Station Politics:

I've been bumped off of 102.1 FM (aka "The New Mix 102") over to 103.1 FM (aka "The Blitz"). It's a fun move, since The Blitz is the flagship channel, and plays on the base TV station (it's even the "Muzak" at the grocery store and McDonalds!).

The problem is that all of my pre-recorded show elements are tagged with "the new Mix 102" and are suddenly useless. I'll get around to recording some new ones, but in the meantime, I'm going to have to rely on my sparkling wit and engaging anecdotes.

First new show is Wednesday; I'll let you know how many times I ID the wrong station.

I hear Richard Cheese gets a party started.

I just realized I'm going to have zero fun at this party. I'll be so focused on the performance of my mix -- why isn't anybody dancing? why is there no head-nodding? why did i eat so much clam dip? -- i won't be able to chill out.

Spears won't even be there for rub my shoulders and whisper encouragement in my ear. And forget about Stephanie "Belle of the Ball" Hayes. The wee blond bombshell will give me the allotted 3 mins -- "Hey, Larry, how are you?" "Uh, it's Sean, Sean Daly" "Yeah, whatever, dude. You have clam dip on your shirt" -- and then continue her rocket ride to fame and fortune.

Sean, you are indeed a spazzy-mcspazatron, but that's one of your endearing charms.
Just know we'll all be here to anxiously await how our contributions to the party playlist plays out. We're here for ya, buddy.
Like they chanted for Rudy...I'll chant for you: DA-LY! DA-LY! DA-LY!

I would suspect after a beer or four that you'll chill out and groove right along with the rest of the guests.

And clam dip? Blech. Perhaps that's your problem.

..and not that you're counting or anything, but this blog post has officially gone over 100 comments. That's two nights in a row, baby!!

Sparky,

I cut my DJ teeth in college as well. I'm finding it a lot more fun now that I'm no longer obsessed about sounding hip and cool. Back in the day, I thought that every "uh" that made it onto the air would do immediate damage to the already gossamer threads of my social life.

Now that I don't care, I'm a lot more relaxed, and consequently I do much better. In fact, that's the advice I give the young broadcasters who get stationed here right out of bootcamp (the latest one is wearing a "Class of 2006" ring): "The best way to sound like a pro is to not care how you sound."

I'm the Mr. Miyagi of broadcasting.

Spazzy McSpazzatron, that's just about right. For instance, it takes the FF about 10 minutes to get Lulu down for the night. It takes me about 2 hours. I have good, sleepy intentions. But then I blink, and somehow a pillow fight has broken out. It just happens.

By the way, I'm OBSESSED with the Cha Cha Slide. How in the hell did that become a cultural phenomenon?

The Hokey Pokey wasn't cool enough. They needed an urban, funky beat update and that's what we ended up with.

Sean,

I know I'm lobbing this one right into your wheelhouse, but how's this for right around the 60-minute mark?

Gold - Spandau Ballet

Sophisticated, but upbeat. Hip enough for the pop saavy, but mainstream enough to have run over the closing credits of "Dancing With The Stars". The perfect tune for nudging the event out of "mingle mode".

That's good advice, Jeff. I'd never done TV/radio/podcasting until I came to Tampa Bay. At first, especially on live TV, I was so worried about every word I said, I looked and sounded like a chubby cyborg. It wasn't until I just let my freak flag fly that I started to enjoy myself. By relaxing and just going with that natural, who-gives-a-sh-- energy, I was also able to improvise better.

One song I don't suggest you play at any work related soire ~ Hot in Herre

Spandau Ballet??? Bad, bad advice. I'm taking away your Miyagi gardening shears.

My last comment made me think of a Chappelle show where John Mayer helps Dave in an experiment on how various music types effect different cultural groups. Anyone else see that? It's funny as all get out.

heh, I knew that was coming about Spandau Ballet.

Alright gang, I gotta hit the rack.

Big day tomorrow. We're going to paint our minivan with chalkboard paint so the kids can decorate it with their sidewalk chalk. No, I'm not making that up.

I often wonder if my kids fully appreciate that they have one of the coolest Moms ever.

Here's a link, kids.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyLGtc0HAgA

Jeff, that sounds so awesome!

By the way, Spears and I recorded a 'cast the other day that is so over-the-top, so sausage-hangy, it's either a classic or the Ishtar of podcasts. He said he's producing this weekend, so maybe you'll hear it soon. It's nuts.

And yes, there are myriad Spandau Ballet jokes.

Not to mention a wonderland of weiner references.

Uh-oh, I'm all alone with Marissa.

I feel so vulnerable.

Be gentle.

Hey, I'm a fan of the sausage hang. I mean that in a totally non-sexual way. Okay, I do appreciate some pervy humor.

Sean,

Steve tipped me off that Spandau Ballet was your trip wire.

Weiner humour? Shades of SuperBad.

And Ishtar, in retrospect, really wasn't all that bad of a flick. It was bad. Just not epically, heinously bad. One woman's opinion.

I can assure you no appendages will be lost. I'm a kitty cat (hyped up on cat-nip).

Okay, I hate to play the numbers game, but let's take this sucker to 121 and then I'm outta here. I don't have the energy to satisfy you ladies tonight.

Sean, I'm still completely spent from last night. You were quite masterful handling all 3 of us at once.

Where are we at anyway?

Good Job Sean... over 100 posts two nights in a row. Sorry, I've been AWOL...fell asleep watching the game.... no reflection on either of the teams.. just tired from last night party with you and everyone and then the party w/ Steve and everyone this morning!

Think the gossip Monday at the office will be about Sean and how his weekend blogs were off da hook? lol

Despite the fact that "True" sucks to the highest power, I'm not sure why I have such a vomitious response to Spanda Ballet. Maybe there's some horrific repressed memory lurking in my head that will come shrieking out during an upcoming podcast. That'd be awesome.

You goof! This is truly a thing of beauty. Steve needs to start taking No-doz or something so he can be UP! All Night (I did that like Rhonda Shear)

124!!!

See ya, dreamgirls.

I'll talk to you soon...

Nighty night Sean...sweet dreams.
I hope I don't have the same weird dreams I had last night. If I'm going to dream about Sean and Steve, it shouldn't be about them living together like The Odd Couple.

Images of Steve as Felix Unger and Sean as Oscar Madison.... Shiver!!

Eh, it wasn't quite that way lol However, it was certainly odd.

I can't go to bed leaving the blog at an uneven comment number. That is all.

It's not just you!! I completely understand... something about odd numbers I don't like.

And on that note... good night!! #132!

Got a few ideas, depending on the vibe you want to go with:

"Dirge" by Death in Vegas
"Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak
"I Get the Sweetest Feeling" by Jackie Wilson
"Naked Eye" by Luscious Jackson
"I Could Never Be Your Woman" by Whitetown
"Milk" by Garbage
"Not Dark Yet" or "Love Sick" by Bob Dylan
"Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth" by Primitive Radio Gods
"Tom's Diner" by Susanne Vega
"Last Night" by Diddy
"Work It" Nelly with Justin Timberlake
"Saved by Zero" The Fixx
"Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake
"Original Sin" by INXS

Sadly, I was tripped up again last night by my personal kryptonite: the 101 Turkey.

Great banter gang. I read every post. What I really need to find is a software that allows up to create a virtual chatroom in a blog post.

Off to research the possibilities.

I left this with an even number! lol
Some nice tunage in that list, Jeremy. I'm especially fond of Whitetown, Primitive Radio Gods and Cake (for this playlist). Of course, Sean is the final judge on what makes the cut.

The PRG song makes me laugh because a co-worker and I (we often break out into duets and dance numbers) were singing the portion that's a sample of BB King "I beeen downhearted baby, ever since the day we met.." It was a 'must see' to appreciate moment.

Steve!!! Now I have to make it an even number again lol

Well thanks, Marissa! I just don't know what vibe would really work for the party (I guess it all depends on the people there). I know that "Naked Eye" may seem a bit of an odd choice, but I had this friend who would always insist on hearing the song straight through...no interruptions. If there were any interruptions, he would have to hear the whole thing over from the beginning. True story! Maybe with this even number obsession of yours I should get you two together. :-)

"Naked Eye" is a great choice, Jeremy -- Jill Cunniff's solo album "City Beach" is one of my fave releases from last year.

lol Jeremy, that's funny. It reminds me of the South Park Episode where Cartman has to sing "Come Sail Away" by Styx in it's entirety whenever anyone mentions the song.
