Mary J. Blige & Ludacris "Grown Woman"

This one goes out to all my over-30 ladies in the blogosphere. The best track off MJB's new album, it's a randy, grindy duet between the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul (who's 37) and a booty-chasing rapper (who's 29) who's shocked to learn he's mad-hot for an older woman. Chalk one up for maturity.

Let's hear it for us women of a certain age! Cougar power!

Purrrrrr... Cougar is more palatable than the other common reference that is made about an older woman with children, don't you think? (I was comment-blocked on the direct reference)
The imagery is far better. A slinking, sleek cat on the prowl.
Oh, sorry. I got carried away for a minute.

I've never been much of a MJB fan. However, the beat to this works for me. I can relate to the subject matter, as well. ::wink::

I figured the audience approval for this track wouldn't be as high as previous recommendations. And that's fine. But for me, there's a lot of effort and chemistry going on here. So I'm buying it.

The song is not my cup of tea, but my wife is four years older than me, so I can kinda relate.

Oh, I'd still buy it, Sean. I have "Family Affair." I just wouldn't say I looove her. You'd definitely get your money's worth if you buy the entire bonus track album.
A cover of "hello, it's me" is on there. My sister is going to have a cow when I tell her that her favorite Todd Rundgren song has been covered by MJB.

Oh, and let me add that it's so nice of you to think of us mature gals who are just in the PRIME of our lives.
I feel a t-shirt design coming on!
Goooooooo COUGARS!

I should point out that when I was 21, I dated a woman who was 35.

Bassnote,

When I was 21, 35-year-old women scared the bejeebers out of me.

Now that I'm older and wiser, ALL women scare the bejeebers out of me.

John Legend does a great cover of "Hello, It's Me." You and your sis should check that out, too.

I've always liked the fact that the FF and I are the same age. It's comforting.

However, I would totally dig being the frisky 37-year-old pool boy in a Mrs. Robinson scenario -- especially if Mrs. Robinson looked like Raquel Welch or Sophia Loren (or Graduate-era Anne Bancroft for that matter).

Aw, Jeff, we're not so scary once you get to know us... usually. Koo-koo-ka-choo.

Way to go, Bassnote. I have a feeling that was a mutually beneficial relationship for both you and Mrs. Robinson.

How do you feel about Plastics, Sean?

I've simply found myself unable to find attraction in the average older man (now that I'm 42). I'm sure it has something to do with denial about growing older.
Since divorcing from the former Mr. Riss, I've only dated my age or younger. I think the key is youthfulness of mind and soul.

Atta girl, Marissa. I'm free later tonight......

Ah, tomorrow. Come on, clock, move it!

Just off the cruise ship (still swaying like I have my sea legs) and took a listen. It's really good -- don't listen to a lot of this genre, but I like the groove and the message. A lot.
