It's a Jungle Out There!

RodneyI'm headed to the University of South Carolina this morning to warp the future minds of America. Should be fun. As part of a journalism conference (SIPA), I'll be teaching a few classes on pop-culture writing then giving the keynote address. I might punctuate my rousing speech by slamming the mike to the ground, blurting, "Daly...out!" and coldly ignoring thousands of autograph requests. But more than likely, I'll ask the five people who didn't sneak out during my talk if they wanna grab some Taco Bell.

Anyway, I'll be back and blogging on Monday. Until then, look out for No. 1...but don't step in No. 2!

Wow, Sean. You're pretty damn groovy! I can just see the flurry of rabid co-eds gurgling with anticipation.
Have a good time. I look forward to a play by play account of how things go.

Looky what I found. Very interesting, Sean. To think that you're helping to develop impressionable minds. Wow! Good advice you dish out.

Wow, that's pretty impressive- "keynote speaker". What, no live webcast of your speech? If it's recorded for posterity, please hook us up with a link....you can (almost) never have too much Daly!

SD,

I'm jealous. I spent a couple of years on the guest lecture circuit on behalf of the world's most powerful nuclear navy, and it was a lot of fun.

Maybe someday I can be a front-page-of-the-newsletter keynote speaker like you!

Make sure you open with "How 'Bout Those Cocks!" Brings the house down every time

Sean your speach was AM- wait for it- AZING, I took your speach on how to "find our voice" and it may possibly- not wait IT WAS my favorite class the whole 3 days! So thank you... for being alive and what not. But seriously thank you for attending this years SIPA i hope you can attend again next year.

Emily ~ Did anyone possibly tape (audio or video) Sean's brilliant lecture? I'm sure there are scads of us who'd be willing to fork over bags of Funyuns and loose change for it.

Wow - From viewing interesting bicycling exercises in Norway, to serving pop corn to Batman in Camp Hill, to single handedly keeping the buses running between SU and Pitt, to taking on Huey, and now all the way to the lecture circuit at a major university! You certainly have come a long way. And you already have your first glowing review from Emily. Way to go - Once someone comes up with the tape, I hope we'll get some of the highlights on an upcoming SIT80s podcast.

Glad you liked the talk, Emily. And I'm glad I'm alive, too. If I continue to be so, I'll totally come back to SIPA someday. I'm seriously in some sort of post-conference malaise. Not sure I want to be a teacher; not with all this sweet newspaper money pouring in. But the highlight of my trip was talking with you guys. You're a sharp crew. So THANK YOU, too.

Well I wish I had taped it, it was one of those things that side swipes you, honestly i missed your key note speach because i was enjoying a lovely taco, so when i got to class i was like a deer in headlights with your awesomness and the pic I got of us i cant upload because my lovely camera is craping out again. Sorry guys... but I would have mos def handed it over... anything for funyuns
