On Oscar Night, Come Join Me...
On Sunday night, I'll be hanging out at film critic Steve Persall's Reeling in the Years blog, being a smart-aleck in the comments section. I wanna see all of my faves there: Jeff, Marissa, Guy, Bassnote, Sparky.
Heck, I'm in a good mood, so I'd even be happy to see Brad there. I have a feeling Steve Spears and his friend Jimmy Beam might show up, too. Ya never know...
Earlier in the night, I'll be zinging out jokes a la Morey Amsterdam for the paper's fashion coverage. So make sure to track down a St. Petersburg Times on Monday for some cheap laffs. Don't worry: The lovely and talented Sharon Fink will be telling you who's wearing what. I'll be more like Fred Willard in Best in Show ("And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten.")
See you on Sunday...

Sean Daly is the pop music critic for the St. Petersburg Times. His CD collection -- from Journey to Dylan, Prince to U2, Public Enemy to Stan Getz -- is much bigger and better than yours.
The lack of a mention in your favorites list (hrumph!) has been remedied with the inclusion of the picture of two of my three favorite TV writers of all time from my favorite sitcom of all time: Miss Sally Rogers and Maurice "Buddy" Rogers.
Should be a good time. The envelope, please!

I'm not a favourite? Well, Mr. Daly.....that's ok.
I'm going to go back watching "Ice Castles" on You-tube.

Ah, Buddy and Sally, they don't make 'em like that anymore (but you come very close Sean).

Isn't that Buddy Sorrell?
Best sitcom ever. Especially when Rob and Laura would just "happen" to break out the Mountain Greenery.

Damn it. It is Buddy Sorrell, not Rogers. And I know that show like the back of my hand. Seriously.
Blame it on my lack of caffeine this morning.

PS: Al -- I was surfing channels this afternoon and caught a glimpse of two pairs of skates on dimly lit ice.
Alas, it was only a promo for the certain-to-be-horrible Cutting Edge 3.
I was highly disappointed.

"Can you feel the love tonight..."
Sean, I'm building a statue in your honor for all the shout-outs. Of course, being environmentally aware, it's made out of used aluminum foil, twist ties and soda cans. Just know it's made with love.
I look forward to Sunday Snark with Sean & Steve.

And Sean, I see you more as a "Pepper Brooks" (Jason Bateman in Dodgeball)than Fred Willard. A lot smarter than Jason's portrayal of ESPN Ocho host Pepper, but equally scintillatingly funny.

I'm certainly planning to chip in, but we'll have to see if my internet service provider is on the same page.

Jane, are you ^&(*-ing KIDDING ME?
Cutting Edge 2 was teeeerrrrribble.
Cutting Edge 3? Egads!
Posted by: Al | February 23, 2008 at 11:13 PM
Al -- would I kid about something as serious and egregious as Cutting Edge 3? No way.
The horror. The horror.

Yep, you're right, Jane. It's being shot in Canada, too........
I'm ashamed.

Curses! I didn't realize the Oscars were tonight when I bought tickets to the Paul Thorn Band show at Skippers. (Though truth be told, I'd rather groove with Paul Thorn than watch the Oscars. I will miss being in on the chat though.) Jane, if our shared boyfriend George Clooney wins anything, send a few gratuitous "wooooo"'s into chat from me.
