Radiohead is coming to Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa on Tuesday, May 6.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday, February 16.
In Thom Yorkian populist style, prices are relatively cheap -- $55 and $45 for reserved pavilion seats, $32.50 for lawn.
Tix available thru ticketmaster.com or (727) 898-2100.
Was excited when I saw "Radiohead coming." Disappointed when I saw Ford Amphitheatre - worst venue in Bay Area. The subtleties in Radiohead music will likely be lost in traffic drone and other factors you get at this venue.

Agree with Paul. Amphitheatre is a horrible venue.
Shows are so much better and more intimate at Jannus Landing or at Skippers Smokehouse.

Paul -
Are you being serious here? Worst venue in the Bay area??? Be glad that we have a venue that groups like Radiohead will actually perform.
Let me guess...you're the same guy that rocks his wicked Radiohead '98 Europe Tour t-shirt to the show here in Tampa.

Jannus or Skippers? Are you guys serious? True, they are great INTIMATE venues, but Radiohead has got to play a larger hall - unless you want them to do 10 nights in a row. Jannus holds about 1,500 and Skippers about half that. The Amp holds better than 10K. They call it the music "business" for a reason.

I see both sides....Jannus, Skippers, & State Theater are best venues to actually listen and enjoy artists. Hand down. But for big artists like Radiohead, its either the Amp or the Forum. Why not the Forum?? The Amp is a great environment, but with any amphitheater you loose a bit of the acoustics.
Valid points on both sides...I wouldnt think this argument is cause to call someone a douche bag, whiskey dick...but hey, its your world. peace out

Radiohead at Jannus is a swell dream scenario. Take it from a dude from the north: That's a damn nice place to see a show. But alas, Radiohead in downtown St. Pete ain't happening at this stage in the game.
As a critic, I get sweet seats at both the Forum and the Ford Amp. Trust me, if you pay $45 for a good ticket (nonlawn) at this show, Thom & Co. are gonna sound great. I've been to some lousy sheds around this country, but the Ford Amp has relatively good acoustics.
Radiohead in May at an outdoor venue in Florida? Sounds good to me.

I agree with Sean (no surprise) -- the Amp is a good venue if you have preferred seats. Rush sounded perfect there. And the weather in May should be just about right.

Roger Waters sounded great at the Amp, but they had the surround sound going, with speakers aligning the back fence.

Douche?
Whiskey Dick?
Where are you taking this paper Mr. Daly?

I hated lawn at the Amp. HATED. I heard crowd noise more than the band. Other seats, great. Forum on the other hand, I've been third level and heard ok.
Totally stoked about them coming here. I think I peed myself when I saw the initial report of a Tampa date.

They're just going to play a bunch of crap from their latest, ungreatest work. Who cares if you can hear it or not?

I'm excited for this, but less excited about the Amphitheatre--I've only been there for shows when it's hot, and it's really hot, especially if you're on the sunny side.
My vote for best place to see a show in town is Ruth Eckerd Hall. I like the Crowbar, too...

If the sound works as it should (and the weather holds up), the Amp will be quite a treat for this concert.
I've sat up close for Rush, Norah Jones, Steely Dan, and The Who (to give examples of different styles) and they all sounded as they were supposed to.
I sat on the lawn for Coldplay and they sounded fine as well.
Radiohead are well aware of what's required to project the sound at outdoor venues like the Amp. I'm sure this concert will be one to enjoy and remember with fondness.
If only the Fairgrounds could revamp their parking methods. Now THAT sucks. It shouldn't take 2 hours to get out of a parking lot.
