The Healing Power of Doritos

Finally, my unhealthy love of Doritos is starting to pay off. This incandescent 22-year-old is Kina Grannis, the winner of the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest. Maybe you remember her commercial? The finger-staining corn chip spent its Super Bowl ad money telling America to buy this singer-songwriter’s iTunes single. So I did. Per usual, the snacks were correct. (In a curious sidenote, Funyuns once told me to rob a bank. That didn't work out as well.) Anyway, I can't get Grannis, a psych grad from the University of Southern California, out of my head. The song is called Message From Your Heart. Lemme know what you think...

I thought it was kind of depressing.

OK, you'd think with me being a girly-girl, fragile flower, demure , etc.. that I'd get into this sort of music. Perhaps if I was inclined to take a warm bath with a box of single edged razors, maybe it'd be my thang.

It's not a BAD song, but the radio airwaves are currently inundated with the likes of Sarah Bareilles, Colbie Callait, and now, probably this chiquita.

I guess the "why can't you love me?" whines of 20-somethings (male and female) leaves me a little unnerved.

Not bad. Like the stripped-down sound. But I'm a little meh on the song itself. Like my two colleagues noted, it's a little depressing and a bit whiny. However, I'm not in the desired demographic for this tune, so what do I know...

Ugh, she sounds like Alanis.

She can come over and sing at my place anytime though. I'll just put some "Power of Love" on......that should make Sean scream in pain!

It was okay. I liked the lyrics. I could see it being used on Grey's Anatomy sometime and then being put on the show's soundtrack.
