What's on Bruce's iPod?
Great piece in USA Today about the contents of Springsteen's iPod. You can actually scroll through the goodies: a lotta Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Neko Case, Link Wray. Lotta alt-country, folk, gospel, early rock. As for surprises, it's cool to see Nas on there. And Evan Dando must be feeling good about himself this morning.
Anway, here's the link. Compare your iPod to the Boss's. My "A"s start off with 35 AC/DC songs. Bruce starts off with Alan Vega and Amos Milburn.

Sean Daly is the pop music critic for the St. Petersburg Times. His CD collection -- from Journey to Dylan, Prince to U2, Public Enemy to Stan Getz -- is much bigger and better than yours.
Despite the fact that kids on the Spain's Costa del Sol in the summmer of '91 would call me "El Jefe" as I butchered Springsteen tunes on the beaches of Malaga, it turns out that Bruce and I only have one song in common:
Dirty Old Town ~ Pogues

Bruce and I only have about three songs in common, which surprises me because I have over 10,700 songs on my i pod. I thought I might have a few more in common.

The Clash, The Pogues, Social Distortion, and Sweet Honey in the Rock are in heavy rotation on my iPod as well. I would have expected more love shown for the Missus, though.

Mr. Springsteen and I only have two songs in common -- "Sloop John B" and "Nightswimming." I have a couple of Wilco tunes (not enough, though) but none of the Jeff Tweedy tracks he's got.
Have to admit I did a "what the frick" with the Evan Dando sighting. Go figure.

Just yesterday I deleted Evan Dando's "The Ballad of El' Goodoo," from the Empire Records Soundtrack.
Even Bruce couldn't make me reconsider retrieving it from the trash bucket in my iTunes library.

Glad to see I have 8 tunes in common with Bruce-- Pogues: Dirty Old Town, Woody/Roger: Alabama Bound, Todd Snider: Play a train song, Neko Case: Wayfaring Stranger, Ralph Stanley: O Death; LWilliams: Ventura, Beth Orton: She Cries Your Name; Bright Eyes: We Are Nowhere and Its Now.
Plus, I have different tracks of some of the less common other - Tom Paxton (Lyndon Johnson Told the Nation - although I understand why ultralib bruce would keep that off); Amos Milburn: One Scotch, One Bourbon One Beer, JD Crowe: Will you be Lonsome too?
I was really encouraged by this, now when people grab and scan my iPod and get past the common stuff and say "Who the h3ll is [?]" I can say well, the Boss has them on his iPod.
