PODCAST TIME! Happy Opening Day
Hey Sluggers! This week's Stuck in the '80s podcast celebrates the boys (or, in Robert Redford's case, middle-aged men) of summer, the best baseball movies of that glorious decade. Celebrity sportswriter Tom "the Closer" Jones joins the sausage hang for this episode, choosing Bull Durham as his fave '80s hardball flick. Steve Spears goes with Field of Dreams, 'cause he's a big softie. And me, well, I'm a dreamer, a romantic, an idealist. I believe in happy endings and good trumping evil and women in white standing up when I need 'em most. And someday I'd love a grizzled old editor to stop shaving, look up at me and say, "And you're the best goddamn Funyun eater I ever saw. Suit up." So naturally, I pick The Natural.

Sean Daly is the pop music critic for the St. Petersburg Times. His CD collection -- from Journey to Dylan, Prince to U2, Public Enemy to Stan Getz -- is much bigger and better than yours.
Great podcast, but I wish you guys would have talked about Major League more.

After listening to the 'cast, I've spent all day thinking about an alternate ending to The Natural, one that's truer to the original text.
I just can't help but chuckle at the thought of a back-lit Glenn Close, rising from the crowd, and then getting plunked in the melon by a frozen rope (with the appropriate Three Stooges' sound effect).
And it would all end with a dejected Roy Hobbs, walking up to the concession stand, laying some of the Judge's bribe on the counter and muttering...
..."Pick me out a weiner, Bobby."

This is the first podcast where I sat listening and tears began to well up in my eyes. Color me a softy. Hearing Steve discuss his attempt at watching "Field of Dreams" with his father just got to me.
I really enjoyed the addition of Tom to discuss baseball flicks. Maybe if you have him join you guys again he can adopt a Welsh accent??
