Coldplay: Love? Hate? Who?

Here's the new Coldplay single, "Violet Hill." The new album, "Viva la Vida," comes out June 17. My enthusiasm for Chris Martin & Co. has diminished over the years. But I heard "Yellow" on my walk this morning, and I was kinda digging it. Anyway, "Violet Hill" isn't awful, but it's not too thrilling, either. Whattaya think?

I'm not super excited about the new album but I'll definetly be giving it a listen.

A good radio-freindly tune. Good to see a darker side from the lads. Is it me or was that video a combination of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" and any of The Monkees videos?

Ha! I can totally see the Monkees angle. All that was missing was Coldplay on the beach, playfully scampering away from an oncoming wave. Oh the hi-jinks!

Coldplay is part of my "yum" music so I will always like it!

When I hear current Coldplay all I can think is "formula pop rock"
I'm already sick of "Viva La Vida"

Coldplay's concert at the Amp a few years ago was among the best I've seen in recent memory. I wasn't even all that familiar with their music at the time, but I thought the show was spectacular.

They're playing Orlando on November 7.

I haven't liked anything by them since "Clocks." I'll be passing on the new album.

Triumph, The Insult Comic Dog said it best..."Coldplay, more like Coldsore, I liked you better when you were U2"...and I don't even like U2.

As a dedicated Radiohead head, I am not supposed to admit to liking Coldplay. But secretly, Rush of Blood is one of my favorite albums. I don't like anything coldplay has done before or after that album.

Didn't watch the video but I'm not crazy about the new song. Seems like they are trying to change their sound like the Killers. Didn't work out so good for the Killers either. I think Coldplay is a good band but Keane is similar but better. They have a new album coming out soon.
