Hmm, these dudes sound familiar...
The next time you’re strutting past a rack of records, you might want to look twice at a new release by the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Hitting store shelves this week, the garage-rocking album Stop Drop and Roll!!! features a cover shot of frug-ing young nubiles in swinging ’60s garb. But one listen to the punchy pop-punk inside, and the secret is revealed: It’s actually a Green Day record, a one-off side project by Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt. Blowing off steam between 2004 masterpiece American Idiot and their next politicized epic, Green Day decided to cut loose and hammer out 12 cuts of party-time rock ’n’ roll, a throwback nod to their early days. I'll have a review and a bigger story about this sneaky surprise in the upcoming days. But for now, let's rock a little.

Sean Daly is the pop music critic for the St. Petersburg Times. His CD collection -- from Journey to Dylan, Prince to U2, Public Enemy to Stan Getz -- is much bigger and better than yours.
Ah! This is right up my alley. And, just what I needed after my 1.5 hour nap. Thanks, SD. I look forward to adding those diddies to my collection.

Nice! I'll be picking that up for an upcoming road trip.
BTW, there was a small box waiting for me when I arrived home from a business trip the other day. Funyuns!

I heard about this little project the other day and have Mrs. Sparky out on an errand today. Her mission was to go to the local music store and pick it up for me. It was a win-win, she gets the points on her frequent purchase card and I get some new music.

Hey Brad -- we just recorded a new 'cast and expressed concern that our Funyuns never arrived. Nice to hear we finally made good.

Fab, in every sense of the word. Thanks fo the tip-off on this one. I can see this going into heavy rotation almost immediately -- especially on my Summer '08 playlist. Perfect beach/pool listening music.

Wow, I love this! Sounds like Im gonna have to do some searching on Ebay or half.com...which btw is the best place to find stuff for so cheap! less then half price. i once bought a book for 65 cents. but then had to spend 3.00 on shipping :/

Fish, you should check your local record (forgot that your a youngin) CD store. With the advent of Itunes these guys are selling albums/CD's cheap. I got the e-mail yesterday and they are selling this disk for 7.99. Support your local shops before Wal-Mart and Itunes bulldoze them to the ground.

Sparky..Im not even sure where a local music store is...ha. the closest mall to my house is like 35 minutes away. And Im not even sure if they have a music store in there :/ Does best buy work, or is that like supporting Walmart and Itunes?? ha ha

Ya know, now that I'm awake I've realized this God forsaken town in which I live doesn't have a record store. Seriously. Give me a break!

Marissa, this is one very good reason why you should move to Tampa! How many reasons do I need to give you?!? ha ha

I found this CD at FYE... how cute is it that it's packaged like a miniature vinyl album? I was a little sad not to find liner notes, though. GREAT stuff. Oh man. This is truly faboo. I played it immediately at work (we're located next to an FYE). A co-worker later informed me she wasn't keen on it. But what does she know? NOTHING!
It took me out of the funk I was in ... and that means everybody ought to be happier.
