Despite the fact that (1) I'm swinging my arms like an orangutan in a suit and (2) I refuse to SHUT THE [BLEEP] UP, here's a quick look at my KISS interview. The full segment will run a little later. In my defense, this was my first "satellite" interview for TV and I obviously have a lot to learn. But jeez, I have the posture and body control of Rodney Dangerfield! When I eventually finish my wheezy 8-minute question, Paul Stanley has a pretty good answer as to why kids today are enamored with classic rock. WATCH THIS.

ABC Action News' John Thomas did a great job producing this segment -- especially when he mocks me...and mocks me. I'll have you know I rode that godforsaken roller coaster twice, front and back. That guy only went on once! (By the way, shout-out to my new friend Eugene, who worked the cameras and gets a cameo here.) My profanity-dripped review of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit runs in Thursday's newspaper. But because I love you guys, I'll post it right here on Pop Life a little later. WATCH THIS.
CARE FOR A DOUBLE SHOT OF DALY TV? While John and I were at Universal, we also shot a riff on the Beatles reissues. At the very least, it has a cheap Culture Club joke. HERE'S THAT BIT.

Hey kids, next Thursday I'll be interviewing KISS via satellite for the folks at ABC Action News. I'll be doing it in the studio, with an ill-fitting earpiece and an ill-fitting suit. (Or maybe I should wear my leathers?) The segment will broadcast closer to the band's Oct. 21 show at the St. Pete Times Forum. No word when tix go on sale, but it's gotta be soon. Like, um, next Thursday perhaps? Anyway, let's play the game...

Hey kids, here's my latest spot with the wily John Thomas at ABC Action News in Tampa. As a bonus, this segment includes rare footage of me on the job at the Green Day gig. Apparently, when I review a show, I have really scary crazy eyes. Psy-cho! Anyway, I'm also talking JoBros, Judas Priest, Woodstock, the Duke and the King and more. HERE YOU GO (vid is on the right)!

This is my last day of vacation. Frankly, I'd rather sob in a shadowy corner than fire up the blog machine. Heck, I don't even get the full day. Tonight I have to work the Rays-Yankees game, drumming up biz for The Big Showoff. I'll be up in the TBT Party Deck if you wanna stop by. If you can't find me, check the shadowy corners and listen for the wailing.
Despite my depression-induced lethargy, however, I'm sick of staring at that Taylor Swift item, so here's some abbreviated madcappery to shake me from the doldrums:
* I taped some schtick for ABC Action News a long time ago, and it finally ran this past Saturday. It's pretty dated; I might as well be in black-and-white and commanding a steamboat. But I'm so unbelievably handsome in my super suit, I'd hate to rob the world of my beauty. Here's DALY TV. * Thanks to my friend and college roomie Kevin, I put about 500 new songs on my iPod. One of those is 3,000 Miles by a guy named Ellis Paul. You folkies probably know him well. Here he plays my new favorite song with Susan Werner. Prepare to fall in love.
* Stephanie Hayes reviewed last night's American Idol show in Tampa. HERE'S THAT. Check out the comments, too. It's the sign of a great writer when that many people hate your guts. Way to go, Steph! * Had lunch with Stuck in the '80s co-host Steve Spears yesterday. We've drummed up a new seggie for the show. It's gonna be a Q&A in which you can ask anything you want, from Do I really hate Spandau Ballet with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns (um, yes) to What's the best '80s song for the Dance of the Seven Buttons (Cameo's Word Up) to Does Steve's rug match his curtains (depends on the social function). Fire off a query! Invade our privacy! Spearsy has some good response already on his blog.
I taped two segments at ABC Action News yesterday: a catchall on Michael Jackson plus a hodgepodger on hot albums (St. Vincent, 500 Days of Summer) and upcoming shows (Vans Warped, Maxwell). The MJ bit ran this morning; the other goes next Saturday. Because I'm often ridiculed for my wardrobe (and rightfully so), lemme just say right now I didn't bother changing my hot getup. You'll be seeing my Century 21 jacket again next week, although with more visible sweat stains. HERE YOU GO.

First of all, John Thomas of ABC Action News has the greatest posture of all time. Dude should run for president! I swear I was sitting up straight when we taped the following video, but jeez, I look like I should be schlepping brains for Dr. Frankenstein. Anyway, here's another fast, sweaty segment on upcoming albums and concerts: Today we're talking Steve Martin's The Crow and Ziggy Marley's Dad tribute B is for Bob, plus Pat Benatar's June 27 show at Tropicana Field and the July 4's Amanda Overmyer-Daly throwdown at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Pete.
