The Swine Flu Playlist!!! (or how Kid Lulu's school got pig poked)

Got the dreaded call this afternoon: Kid Lulu's school is awash in the swine flu! Lil' Miss Daly has a low-grade fever but is in good spirits; her baby sis Mai-Mai seems swine-free and actually had the wiles and audacity to steal my beer at dinner and toddle away with it.

Lu and I will be spending Tuesday at home together; I'm sensing an I Was a Teenage Robot marathon. The strain at her school seems to last about 24 hours and just makes you feel yucky.

The Training Camp Playlist

Your Tampa Bay Buccaneers open camp Saturday, kick-starting the NFL’s 2009 season. I’m a football junkie (alas, a Boston-bred Patriots guy) and an unrepentant wagerer, so part of me is jacked about this.

And yet...[cue ominous strings]...training camp also signals the end of summer, the start of school, the approach of winter, my kids getting older, college tuition, my gray hair, my aching back and, lastly, my inevitable death, the latter of which, it should be noted, will no doubt be linked to an unfortunate Sunday bratwurst consumed in a hard, cold stadium parking lot whilst I wear a snug Tom Brady jersey.

Wow, that’s [bleepin'] depressing!
