The question
We;re going to try something new in Pinellas County this season. We're going to pose a poll question about players and have the bloggers vote on it. We'll run the results each Wednesday starting Aug. 30. So here it goes. Who is the county quarterback with the strongest arm?
-- Posted by Bob Putnam

Seriously? That would be LD Crow....hands down. He has broken more than a few fingers of receivers, and when he practices with his dad, he has to wear gloves because LD throws it so hard. Hands down it is LD with the strongest arm.....
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 01:47 PM
OK we now have LD's dad's opinion.
What do people without the last name of Crow thik?
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 02:26 PM
I do not have the last name of Crow.....I have seen him throw and he throws very hard.
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 03:08 PM
OK somebody you dosent work out with LD and his Dad. Mom's maiden name either.
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 03:31 PM
Sean Shelton the sophmore QB for Palm Harbor has a big arm.
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 09:20 PM
Orihan Johnson junior at Boca Ciega. Monster arm.
Posted by: | August 18, 2006 at 11:53 PM
Armondo Sanches at Norhteast. This kid can out throw anyone in the county.
Posted by: | August 19, 2006 at 12:38 PM
crow hands down
Posted by: | August 19, 2006 at 10:08 PM
Armando Sanchez from northeast this kid is the real deal. Showing Favre Esque skills hes unbelievable. He will be a star and every division 1 school will be after him and who is Crow hes lucky he doesnt have to play northeast. just a piece of advice to coach austin more throwing plays because you have the best quarterback in the county
Posted by: Andres Sanchez | August 20, 2006 at 01:23 PM
Alright thanks for your opinion Andres SANCHEZ- you guys arent related are you
Posted by: | August 20, 2006 at 03:37 PM
Hands down I'd say Armando Sanchez has the best arm in the county. He when givin the chance can throw accurately down field and hit his recievers right in the hands. Some recievers comment that they cant hang onto the ball because of how hard he throws. He will put up some good numbers even in a rushing wing T offense.
Posted by: Bret McCown | August 20, 2006 at 05:48 PM
Hands down, Armando Sanchez from Northeast High School. You have to see this kid throw!
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 01:24 PM
Armando Sanchez without a doubt!
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 02:41 PM
Crow alread has a D1 Scholarship to a Pac 10 school. Stanford.
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 03:17 PM
I've witnessed Armando Sanchez stand flat footed and throw 75 plus yards this kid could give anybody in the state a run for their money
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 06:47 PM
LD CROW, he can throw bullets
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 08:01 PM
Are you guys kidding?Armando Sanchez?LD Crow was the best is the county last year and is this year also. I saw the game of the week and Sanchez didnt look like anything special.Crow obviously has the strongest arm and thats why hes already a D1 player
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 08:08 PM
terry knatebaguel dunedin
Posted by: | August 21, 2006 at 09:12 PM
L Johnson, Largo Packers.... This kid is a Jr and can make all of the throws plus kill you with his feet. He is a three year starter with one more year to go.... 3.0 GPA and Miami likes him very much!!! Nothing againt LD who is very good, but Mr Johnson is a dual threat.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 09:03 AM
When any of the other QB's have a division I scholarship on the table they can start talking some thrash.
Until then I have got to go with the opionion of the college coachs as to who is the best in the county.
Division I coachs say LD Crow as far as I hear. By the way LD has a 4.0 GPA.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 11:44 AM
mr. crow you need to relax. Armando will get his. He is only a junior.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 12:42 PM
Sanchez carries a 3.7 with 2 years to pull it up. has a 1200 sat score already.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 12:45 PM
sanchez is twice the athlete he had over 100 tackles as a soph. at linebacker and his 40 is in the 4.5's.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 12:53 PM
We are talking this year. Not next year or the one after. I dont see your boy on Rivials Mr. Sanchez.
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 02:13 PM
For the uninitiated, that includes the individual that supposedly watched the game of the week on Catch 47. The wing-T is primarily a run oriented offense. So it is doubtful that Sanchez' true potential will ever be truly revealed. Sanchez' first three passes were dead catchable throws recievers not withstanding. Sanchez' is a multi-talented player with strengths on offense as well as defense unless Mr. Crow can make the same claim he'll be riding the pine at some Division 1 school!! As far as arm strength thats great but last time I looked accuracy accounted for much more than strength. If it's pure strength of arm its Sanchez in a land slide. I've watched them both play. Sanchez NO CONTEST!
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 04:37 PM
first of all L.D. is nothing to right home about(countryside qb's obviously cant handle D-1 pressure any way ie. Harrison Beck) johnson at miami, isnt he a little undersized plus 3.0 is probally a 2.0 at any other school in the county, sanchez has a pretty big arm but ive seen the qb at duniden throw 40+ yards falling backwards, and johnson at bogie has got a gun too
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 06:27 PM
It's funny how everyone overlooks schools like seminole and osceola. I bet Segio Allen at Osceola, though under-sized, can hum the ball on a rope 70+ yards, and will be the breakout player of the year. Back to Seminole, their QB, Tyler Bradley, has a strong arm from what i have seen in practice, if seminole and osceola would throw the ball more, maybe these two could have a good year
Posted by: | August 22, 2006 at 09:48 PM
HEY 2:13 MAYBE YOU NEED TO WORRY MORE ABOUT FINISHING THE SEASON STRONG MORE THAN WHAT PUBLICATIONS (RIVALS)HAVE TO SAY. C-SIDE SEEMS TO BE MORE WORRIED ABOUT PUB THAN WINS. EARLY EXITS WITH A LOT OF HYPE. YOU HAVE THE EASIEST DISTRICT IN THE STATE BESIDES TARPON. RELAX, LET THE SEASON PLAY OUT, THE CREAM WILL RISE TO THE TOP. JOHN DAVIS, THE KING OF SCREEN, PROBABLY HAS THE 3RD BEST QB IN THE COUNTY.
Posted by: | August 23, 2006 at 09:31 AM
Hey just because the Saint Pete Times and Rivals both have LD the best QB in the county and dont mention your boy mean nothing. SO attack the program.
They question was best QB with strongest arm. Indepedent opinion of impartial experts Times, Rivals, D1 coaches are singularly LD Crow.
The Norteast kid is playing in a frigging Wing T! Austin has not let a QB air it out since his son played for him. Sanchez is screwed for this year. Maybe next year when junior takes over.
Posted by: | August 23, 2006 at 02:46 PM
Neither one of his boys threw it more than 12 times a game either. I coached against both of them.... Coaches don't have to see a kid throw it 40 times a game to know if they can play or not. Stats are for losers, especially in a screen pass/swing pass type offense. That is not a knock on the offense, its a fact. Completion % and yards are inflated due to y.a.c. Austin will at least throw the ball down the field even if it is only 10-12 times a game. Two different systems. Austin has been succesful to the tune of around 200 wins. Jury is still out on c-sides offense. We will see how it runs when he doesn't get a qb in. Like it or not the wing-t wins. It is nowhere near as exciting as other offenses, but year in and year out it is consistant. Half of the state champs were wing-t teams. It's a proven offense...... Not arguing if Crow is talented, or if he is d-1 material. Believe it or not there are more d-1 qb's in this county. Sanchez will go D-1, If he throws it only 1 time a game. From looking at the tv game, the DT # 83 , #24 RB, #11 rb all look like d-1's as well and they are all underclassmen I believe. Hate to say it but it looks like the old man may have somethin goin down there.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 07:52 AM
rivals is a money maker man. its a joke. if you got a hook up with one of those writers they will put anyone up on there.(anthony graham ring a bell?) That is why larry bluestein left that place. everyone knows that. D-1 coaches know sanchez, t. bowden wanted to take him back on the plane to tally with him this spring.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 08:04 AM
Stop hating on the wing-t!
Posted by: FLwing-T | August 24, 2006 at 10:17 AM
Times prep writers selected Armwood defensive lineman Torrey Davis as the top senior in our five-county coverage area. The Tampa Bay Top Talents, as published in today's paper:
1. Torrey Davis, DL, Armwood; 2. Stephen Garcia, QB, Jefferson; 3. Robert Marve, QB, Plant; 4. L.D. Crow, QB, Countryside; 5. Jock Sanders, RB, St. Petersburg Catholic; 6. Alton Voss, QB, Gulf; 7. Marquise Branton, FB, Armwood; 8. Develin Robinson, WR, Land O'Lakes; 9. Joe Weatherford, QB, Land O'Lakes; 10. Mike Brown, RB, Brandon.
Hmmm. I dont see a Sanchez on the list, or anyone else from Northeast. Must be a typo.
At least win a fricking district before you saw how great you are.
The game has passed Jerry by, it is sad to see someone stay around too long. First thing Junior will do is dump the Wing-T.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 03:31 PM
Districts? everyone knows that district is a joke. nothin to brag about. Far east has won 7 or 8. It was not playin ppark, dunedin, p.harbor, east lake, and clearwater either. C-side needs to win an out of county playoff game, at least have an undefeated season, something. even seminole has had undefeated regular seasons and won out of county. you can't even win a jamboree out of county. As far as the paper goes, like it matters, i bet their will be some nehi and largo kids when they become seniors. Again the paper don't win ball games, it enables you to put fish in the fridge. Win something please.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 06:20 PM
I will say those prep writers sure know their football. Ha! They have played a lot of ball in their day!! Juat kidding.
There goes Mr. Crow counting his newspaper articles again. I am sure those SENIORS are deserving. Dads gotta quit living vicariously! Good luck L.D. have a great season. Tell your pops to relax.
P.S. Dear (news)paper champions, I think all those nehi boys are underclassmen.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 07:04 PM
this for the guy who listed the names of the kids and said there must have been a typo must not be aware that sanchez is a junior and a first year quarterback that can still out throw anybody thats been listed on this page.
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 08:26 PM
i say we have a quarterback competition
Posted by: | August 24, 2006 at 08:28 PM
So the winner of this pole...... Armando Sanchez????
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 06:21 AM
SO ARMANDO WON YOR POLE!!!
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 09:03 AM
Norteast has not won a district in years. Jerry and the boys are living in the past. Maybe when Junior takes over they can get back to the program the had in the 90's.
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 09:06 AM
i believe they won the district in 2003. just 2 seasons ago.
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 10:11 AM
Preseason polls mean squat... a prime example is the times preseason all-county team. It lists Jeff Ijjas as the pre season pick for all-county punter. The problem is that he isnt the punter at CCC. Matt Darr is the punter and the word is that Jeff Ijjas has already lost the kickoff job to a sophomore and is battling to hold on his placekicking job.
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 01:01 PM
I doubt the punter from CCC will see any action tonight all though the kick off team for CCC should get lots of action tonight.
Posted by: | August 25, 2006 at 01:42 PM
the qb at seminole isn't much more than a little league qb he has a decent arm at best and has discovered the art of touch an important element of the position too he singl handedly ended any hope of a comeback in the opener with a pair of int.'s , allen is VERY UNDERSIZED and both teams throw way to much
Posted by: dhsfalcons | August 26, 2006 at 12:46 AM
*(hasn't discovered)
Posted by: dhsfalcons | August 26, 2006 at 12:47 AM
What a STUPID question/topic. What does the "strongest arm" have to do with the best QB? Who can throw the cowchip the greatest distance? Have some intelligence with these topics...this blog just gets worse and worse
Posted by: gallopin ghost | August 26, 2006 at 10:33 AM
i doesnt really matter how far u can throw the football if u throw it into the other teams hands then u still suck no matter if u can throw the ball 70+ yards.Back to seminole and osceola QB's... they are OK players nothing really special. I think Armando Sanchez from Northeast is the winner on this win.
Posted by: | August 27, 2006 at 09:12 PM
* one
Posted by: | August 27, 2006 at 09:17 PM
This is a very vague question. The real question is which QB can run his offense and recognize defenses, which one can make sure his team is lined-up correctly, which one can not just throw it but can drop back then take off and run someone over if had to.
If these are the questions at hand it would be the JR at NEHI. I have heard this kid can run as low as a 4.4 40, bench press 345lbs and squat in the 550lbs range. Not bad for 16 year old JR.. He is also carring a 3.7 gpa. Without taking fluke classes.
I saw him against ST.Pete this week and he could have thrown for 150+ yrds but his recievers could not hang on. He did complete a couple for more than 30 yards. He took off and ran on one and he knock one defender off about 3 yards back before being wrapped up by 4 defenders and this kid still did not hit the ground. This kid is going to be fun to watch. Keep your eyes on him.
Posted by: | August 27, 2006 at 09:25 PM
Who does Northeast play this week and where? I gotta see this Sanchez kid in person. I have seen the Crow kid a few times. Great delivery, fairly strong arm, kind of a statue back there with very limited mobility. Noticed his touch is not quite where it needed to be yet. Davis has that screen and short pass offense that doesn't let Crow show his arm much. He does have a fairly strong arm. You can see that in warmups............. Sanchez 4.4? I doubt it, but I would like to see what all the hype is about. Does Jerry even let his kids warm up anymore?
Posted by: | August 28, 2006 at 07:25 AM
jerry is so far behind the times, its amazing a kid of that talent would even play for him. His kid is the only thing keeping him in the game
Posted by: gallopin ghost | August 28, 2006 at 08:12 AM
If Jerry Austin is so far behind the times then why is St. Pete's coach trying to implement the Wing-T?
Posted by: | August 28, 2006 at 09:24 AM
wing-t is in at seminole, osceola, st. pete, as well as northeast. It is also in at bolles, st. augustine, chaminade, and palm beach gardens. It is a very effective system when you don't get to pick and choose your players. great for undersize lineman etc. versatile enough to utilize talent that may not be there year in and year out. i really don't understand how someone could say it isn't effective. austin has won about 75% of his games. Roper went to it in 1999 and ran off 4 or 5 great years. he did not do anything before that. Palmer has won even at osceola with it. he won like 23 straight with it. it may be different or old school but you cannot knock it as ineffective.
Posted by: | August 28, 2006 at 10:08 AM
So everybody, Rivals, the times, D1 coahes all are stupid. Everyone is stupid excecpt you. Laz index has you 5th in the county and third in your district. I guess Laz is stupid too.
Time will tell NEHI. I will tell you one thing for sure. NEHI will do better when dad retires and junior takes over.
Posted by: | August 28, 2006 at 12:27 PM
WHY DO WE PLAY THE GAMES IF RIVALS, D-1 COACHES , THE ST. PETE TIMES HAVE ALREADY PICKED THE CHAMPIONS. I THOUGHT WE HAD TO DECIDE IT ON THE FIELD. "TIME WILL TELL," IS ABOUT THE SMARTEST THING I HAVE HEARD COME OFF YOUR KEYPAD. AS FAR AS FAREAST GOES I THINK TIME HAS TOLD A STORY. CLEARWATER AND FAREAST ARE THE WINNINGEST PROGRAMS IN THE HISTORY OF P. COUNTY. MR. SCHROEDER YOU NEED TO WORRY MORE ABOUT FRIDAY NIGHTS AND WHERE BIG JOHN IS GONNA GET HIS NEXT QB THAN ALL THESE ARTICLES AND RANKINGS. THAT IS WHY WE PLAY THE GAMES. YOUR SENSE OF YOUR PROGRAM BEING ELITE IS LAUGHABLE. YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING. 1 PLAYOFF WIN OUT OF COUNTY, ONE 10 WIN SEASON, NO UNDEFEATED SEASONS IN THE HISTORY OF YOUR SCHOOL? COME ON. TIME HAS TOLD.
Posted by: | August 29, 2006 at 08:33 AM
I may be wrong but in your best season at 10-3, didn't that sorry team that hasn't won a district in 2 years (nehi) pop c-side with a 42- 20 LOSS. Yea , I believe they did. Get off the blog with that media garbage. Laz???
Posted by: | August 29, 2006 at 09:00 AM
dhsfalcons, seminoles qb had no help in the opener. a fumbled punt return ended the chances they had. the 2nd int was tipped. and i bet their qb is better than knatebuego and the other guy, even though he isnt as fast, he has a better arm.
Posted by: | August 29, 2006 at 01:42 PM
All Northeast has to talk about is the past.
Posted by: | August 29, 2006 at 02:19 PM
I believe we are talking about the present now with NEHI!
Posted by: | August 29, 2006 at 03:31 PM
Nehi talks tradition, Countryside talks trash. "Time will tell!"
Posted by: | August 30, 2006 at 07:12 AM
I hears that 7:12. Once again countrysides talking trash because they won the punk district a few times. What have they done. NOTHING! 1 out of county playoff win? Please! Let them tell it, they have won back to back state titles and had some great playoff runs. Schroeder kills me with some of his post. Tradition is built over decades not a couple of years.
Posted by: | August 30, 2006 at 07:29 AM
Congrats Armando Sanchez on winning this pole.
Posted by: | August 30, 2006 at 10:50 PM
Well its gotta be Stanford commitment L.D. Crow. He not only possess the strongest arm in Pinellas, but also one of the most accurate. And he's learned from the best after being under the wing of Harrison Beck for a couple years you learn something. And with that Strong arm of his he led Countryside last year to a 9-2 record, and can do alot better this year if he justs focuses on it.
Posted by: Andres | August 31, 2006 at 10:31 PM
how is beck doing at nebraska?
Posted by: | September 01, 2006 at 07:34 AM
It really amazes me that fans of teams who havent won in Pinellas as of late want to slam the teams that have. Doesnt the idiots realize they are slammin their own team even worse. Tradition, baloney, there is no history since the County has split schools and the "old" powerhouses have been split. We have more parity and if you cant win right now with what you have, then dont bash those who find a way to do it. All district winners are winners in the County and all those schools with "tradition" are not. The out-of-county schools will be the same when population splits their powers up too. Wake up!
Posted by: | September 06, 2006 at 07:40 AM
where o where are the NEHI fans now. OOps another lackluster season. Could it be good ole jerry???????
Posted by: | September 09, 2006 at 03:42 PM
jesse redden from pinellas park he has a very strong arm and he is only a junior
Posted by: matt friend | September 29, 2006 at 09:04 AM
jesse redden is a beast... hes second in the county in passing yards and has 8 touchdowns with no interceptions...and yes he does probably of the strongest arm in pinellas county no lie... crow who?
