Bob Putnam, Pinellas County reporter: Yes, girls can play tackle football in this county, but it is rare. A few years ago, a girl from Gibbs played and another from Northeast went through summer practices.

I heard a few girls are going to Osceola High's summer football practices in the summer of 2007 for the team. The girls are going to be freshmen next year at the school. I would keep my eye on the group of them. Who knows how well they are going to do.
