Recruiting Update

Sp_247174_dunk_sphtab St. Petersburg star lineman Lawon Scott (pictured) received a scholarship offer from Ole Miss on Monday as the 6-2, 300-pounder's recruiting is heating up.

Scott, the defensive MVP of the Pinellas All-Star Classic, said Wake Forest has also recently showed more interest. Scott will likely take a few visits before deciding his college choice.

At Lakewood, senior receiver Ronnie Lane had a home visit with Charleston Southern coaches last Wednesday - his birthday - and the night of the Lakewood-Clearwater boys basketball game. Lane has also talking to coaches from Troy State and UConn.

The Spartans' QB, Corey Henderson, saw his recruiting stock rise after his offensive MVP performance at the All-Star Game. Navy has been the latest to inquire about Henderson.

Well deservered!!!! Congrats Lawon...

This is a kid who deserves everything he has if not more. I had a chance to meet and talk with him in the allstars he is a very good and well mannered kid. Cant say enough good things...

If Navy wants Henderson he should go. He may not have an NFL career at QB BUT HE COULD HAVE A HECK OF A COLLEGE CAREER RUNNING THAT OPTION.

Shows again how important the Allstar game is to kids who play in schemes designed for their coach and not for their future

What an ignorant post. Coaches will not, and should not change their schemes to get a kid into college. So are you to say that Lakewood should have run the flex-bone, triple option in order to get Navy's attention during the season?

Yeah, great way to run a team. Talent always rises to the top, and college recruiters will recognize good players, no matter the scheme, their record, or their level of play!

If you are good, you will get attention. Does not matter how good your coach pushes you. If you are a D-3 or below you need the extra push from coaches or opportunities such as the All Star game.

HENDERSON DID NOT IMPRESS.ALL STAR BY ACCIDENT. HE WILL NOT GO ANYHERE. GET OFF OTIS
