The latest state rankings for boys basketball are out, and plenty of Bay Area Teams find themselves in the top-10.
Lakewood (7-1) is tops at No. 3 in 5A, with Wharton (7-0) at No. 5 and Clearwater (8-1) at No. 9.
In 3A, St. Petersburg Catholic (7-0) is tied for No. 5, with Tampa Catholic (5-1) not too far behind at No. 7. The two teams will meet at SPC on Friday, Jan 5 in an interesting matchup
In 1A, Clearwater Calvary Christian (9-0), off to its best start in program history, is No.8

lets see,clearwater loses to the # 3 team by 4 on the road-easily wins others---drops from 7 to 9--- lakewood barely beats # 7 clearwayer at home and loses to 3 god only knows by 12 and remains # 3--so clearwaters road loss to a higher ranked team by 4 is a worse loss than lakewoods loss to seminole...who thought this out.surely not coaches and sports writers---what is your opinion mr. smith.

The polls early in this season are, often times, a little preliminary. Once Christmas Tourneys finish up, there should be some more clarity and consistency.
I know, for example, some teams were mistakenly left off the first poll since voters weren't given updates on how teams from Miami, etc were doing in preseason.
It'll all shape up soon, I'm sure. Both Lakewood and Clw, I believe, should be in the top-10 - I don't think that's in doubt
