Lakewood beats Largo for PCAC

Lakewood beat Largo, 64-48, taking their fourth straight PCAC title.

The Spartans started the game up 13-2, then Largo pulled within one in the second quarter before Anthony Dorsey (15 points) scored two quick baskets.

Largo could only get as close as 3 points after that. The Packers had their worst shooting night of the season (17-for-45). They played well in spurts, often battling back from deficits, only to find themselves just a couple of big shots short of pulling close enough to overtake Lakewood.

Lakewood Ed Nixon had a game-high 17, with Reggie Reed and Rashon Stewart adding 10. Once again, the Spartans' depth proved a key factor.

Dorsey was on the bench during Lakewood's opening 13-2 run. But the senior hit some key shots in crucial moments (both in second and third quarters).

Largo point guard Ben O'Donnell didn't get it going offensively until the fourth, when he scored most of his 11 points (a couple crafty drives to the basket). Charlie Lytle had a team-high 15, but had a few of his shots blocked by Lakewood's Mike Morrison.

"They're beatable - you just have to play the perfect game," Largo coach Phil Price said afterward. "And obviously, we didn't."

YOUR TAKE: Which Pinellas County team has the best chance for a run to the Final Four?

can anyone tell me when Dixie and Lakewood play? Tonight I believe at 8:00. Thanks

Vinnie largo will be lucky to beat palm harbor or east lake n friday!

The bracket is set where Largo and Clearwater don't face one another UNLESS it is in the final, and that means win or lose BOTH would enter the region tournament. That'll work for Wooden and me.
Now can anyone stop Lakewood? On their current run, they are poised to win their district which would mean they would host the Runner-up from the Clearwater/Largo game. Assuming wooden and my bragging get back-up by our teams. Here's a fun thought for Largo and Clearwater(or whoever is in the 5A-9 Final). Win your district or go to Lakewood to see if you can keep from getting your butt kicked. I'll take my chances with winning my district. lol

Dixie over Seminole?!?!? hahahahahaha I knew they didn't want a rematch with us!!!!! GO Lakewood!!!!

Wooden Clearwater Is not going to win so Shut it

it will probably be at gibbs--p.park was a replacement for largo-- last year clearwater played lakewood at gibbs. for the pcac for the same reason.

They Will Most likely have it a PPARk like they have the last couple years or maybe just last year because its in between...

if they were forced to move the game to a neutral site where would that be? Does Eckerd college have a gym? Gibbs is brand new and looks big enough...don't matter, Lakewood is on a roll...can't be stopped no matter where they play!

largo was reallh mad last year when they had to move its funny to cause they lost

all of the comments on each team and the only problem you can address is tear-instead of year..i guess clearwater is better than i think, any basketball rebuttle?.. yes i know rebuttle is spelled wrong, thought id give you a chance to correct me on spelling.because i'm sure there is no basketball points coming from you.... on the other hand,Vinnie knows ball .he is bias for largo as i am for clearwater,i think the point of home court is major for lakewood,i would force a move just like what happened to largo last year...good luck

Well I have to say Lakewood has the best chance for the final four.
Largo and Clearwater are in a tie for second best chance (and we all know Vinnie is for Largo, but facts are facts) and Bogie after that.
If Lakewood wins their district (yes I said IF, Lakewood has lost some games Spartan-fans) They are the host team through the Region Final.
Of course somebody might make them move to a neutral site because their gym isn't big enough for the FHSAA, and that will have an effect on the game, but Lakewood is the setting the bar this year for the playoffs.

"unlike last tear" what does that mean wooden that does not make any sense...you must have graduated from a low life school like clearwater HUH?

Clearrwater will not make it out of districts!!!!!!! Period so dont start your BS garbage LARGO BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOODEN!!!!!

sorry,im no match for comebacks like that,pig....wow....keep studying and maybe next entry you can progress to a 4 letter word.. dare to dream !!!----any basketball responses?

Wooden Every body is Sick of you you are such a pig.

clearwater is coming together at just the right time.unlike last tear when their best games came early, they are 8 deep with little let down. this should provide easy victories over everyone except lakewood and with a nuetral court,i give them a great chance....before i hear alot from p.park--please review home loss, when clearwater played 11 players.palm harbor, not in this lifetime.largo..only at home and bogie, you better shoot 80 percent from beyond the arc, because the rest of your game won't do it.......go tornadoes....

cool, thanks for the info

Wood,

Lakewood's district plays at Boca Ciega this week. The second-round games are Wednesday.

I'll be doing a preview for tomm's paper

- JOE

Bring on Seminole...we owe them!!! Where can I find out when / where the games will be this week? Thanks.

When LARGOS game is on there the....Shut up you know nothing

Largo is raw... They had their worst shooting game of the year... That says enough... Just wait until they face up again in the playoffs and Largo sends Lakewood home early for the second year in a row! When Largo's game is on... They are the best team in the county... You'll see...

Largo isn't horrible just not a lot of depth. And the five starter graduate this year. Not sure how good Largo will be next year.

LIKE I SAID LAKEWOOD KILLS LARGO!!!!! LARGO IS HORRIBLE
