Faedo Named 6A Coach of the Year

While Hillsborough County was overlooked in Florida Mr. Baseball balloting, one of its coaches didn't go unnoticed.

Faedo Alonso's Landy Faedo, who guided the Ravens to a 26-4 record and the Class 6A region finals, was named 6A Coach of the Year in a statewide balloting of coaches and media representatives.

Faedo edged Deland's Ric Sperling and Gainesville Buchholz's Bob Smith for the honor. Under Faedo, Alonso won the 27-team Saladino Tournament and Class 6A, District 7 title before falling to eventual state champion Sarasota, 3-2, in the region finals.
