Jefferson's Grossi expects to play Friday
Jefferson senior quarterback Zack Grossi said he "felt great" Tuesday after throwing 10-15 balls, and said he "should be good to go on Friday" against Robinson in the Dragons home opener.
Grossi, who hurt his throwing shoulder late in the Dragons loss to Hillsborough Friday night, said he feels no pain throwing the ball. Grossi said doctors labeled it a grade 1 separation, but pending a clearance from his doctor in the next couple days, he plans to be back in the lineup.
Grossi said he even threw a few balls in the school's front office with coach Mike Fenton - "just 10 yards, no big deal."
The status of another key Jefferson starter, senior linebacker Gorby Loreus, could be decided in the next couple days. The 6-foot, 210-pound outside linebacker, who already has offers from Ole Miss and Kentucky, hasn't practiced in about two weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury. He sat out Friday's loss to Hillsborough.
