Petey Smith offered by Ohio State
Armwood junior linebacker Petey Smith received a scholarship offer from defending Big Ten champion Ohio State.
Smith, one of the state's top linebackers, has received tons of interest from major Division I colleges, but Armwood coach Sean Callahan said OSU was the first written offer since juniors were allowed to get ones on paper Sept. 1.
The 6-foot-, 230 pound junior recently named to rivals Top 100 in 2009 to Watch, has already received an offer from the University of Florida.
Ohio State has also offered another bay area standout, Boca Ciega QB Orhian Johnson.
Back in Seffner, things were "back to normal," Callahan said. Quarterback Mywan Jackson and the other suspended starters from Friday returned to practice. Callahan said Jackson will start on Friday against Wharton.
The Hawks will play without five-star recruit, lineman Matt Patchan, who was ejected after two personal foul penalties against Plant on Friday.
