Nothing spectacular from the Hawks, just another dominant, workmanlike, lunch-bucket effort. The big question is, can you fit a state championship trophy in that lunch bucket? Oh, and a ham sandwich would be good. And something crunchy, like Pringles, as well?

2. (2) Plant (7-1)
Friday: beat No. 5 Chamberlain 29-22.
This week: vs. Jefferson.
This one was all about the knees. Cornelius Gallon tore the ACL in his left knee. Aaron Murray is hit while taking a knee, and the Panthers refuse to shake hands. The Panthers kneed to win against Jefferson to win the district.

3. (3) Largo (8-0)
Friday: beat Seminole 34-0.
This week: at Gibbs.
Largo is either the best team no one is talking about, or a team made better by its schedule. We're going with the former, and will boldly prognosticate that the Packers are headed to the region final.

4. (4) Ridgewood (8-0)
Friday: beat No. 39 Springstead 27-13.
This week: at Land O'Lakes.
Here's some things we thought we'd ever say: Ridgewood has won 10 straight games. Ridgewood is going to the playoffs. Ridgewood can win the district title this week. We like green beans. We think Members Only jackets are cool.

5. (7) Hillsborough (7-2)
Friday: Beat No. 6 Gaither 31-7.
This week: vs. Tampa Bay Tech.
After three straight games against top-six competition, the Terriers get Tampa Bay Tech and a bye to end the regular season. Seems right.

6. (8) Brandon (6-2)
Friday: Beat Bloomingdale 56-0.
This week: at Plant City.
The Eagles' defense is ferocious. Over the last three weeks, it's Brandon 130, everyone else nothing.

7. (5) Chamberlain (6-3)
Friday: lost to No. 2 Plant 29-22.
This week: at King.
The Panthers had their hands full with the Chiefs on Friday night. Maybe that's why they couldn't shake hands afterwards?

8. (9) Land O'Lakes (7-1)
Friday: Beat River Ridge 31-0.
This week: vs. No. 4 Ridgewood.
For those with Lake in their school name, it was the greatest week ever. Land O'Lakes won it's seventh straight game. Lakeland won its 53rd straight. East Lake stayed alive in the playoff race. Lakewood stunned Northeast after trailing 21-0. Blake won its first game of the season.

9. (10) Countryside (6-2)
Friday: beat No.43 Clearwater 42-24.
This week: vs. East Lake.
QB Jimbo Chmelik carried the Cougars. Jimbo Chmelik didn't throw an incomplete pass, going 11-of-11. Jimbo Chmelik also had 134 yards and a touchdown. We just like saying Jimbo Chmelik.

10. (11) Plant City (5-3)
Friday: Listened to country music. Watched Brandon win.
This week: vs. Brandon.
We were ready to declare Brandon's Samir Baker and Marquel Gilmore as Tampa Bay's best rushing duo. Then we remembered Plant City's duo of Sirchauncey Holloway and Keith Dawson. Then we decided to just wait until after they play Friday to make a final decision.

11. (14) Boca Ciega (6-2)
Friday: beat Osceola 28-0.
This week: vs. Bradenton Bayshore.
Remember a few years back when Bogie had to beat Bayshore to get into the playoffs, and lost? Well, the Pirates are hoping former coach and current Bayshore coach Jean Gordon has another one of those in him.

12. (13) Dunedin (5-3)
Friday: DNP.
This week: vs. Palm Harbor University.
Should go into playoffs with three straight wins. If they don't, we see an early exit for the Falcons.

13. (6) Gaither (6-3)
Friday: lost to Hillsborough 31-7.
This week: vs. Wharton.
Now 0-3 against teams in the top 10, and 6-0 against teams not in the Top 10. Wharton, who they play for the district title, is not in the top 10. Yeehaw!

IF anyone is thinking about putting together a bowl game, give the Spongers, aka Best Team Not To Make Playoffs, a call.

You want a game of the week? I'll give you two. Hudson @ Zephyrhills and Pasco @ Gulf. Those two games decide the 3A-8 district, they're like playoff games but within the regular season. With Gulf coming off of a HUGE district win against ZHills, they're all fired up and ready to take down the Pirates. Not to mention that they've got all of Hudson rooting for them this week.

Cambridge Christian is currently on a 3 game win streak. They played Keswick Christian on 9-28-07 and stayed with them at 7-7 halfway through the 3 quarter. Some larger schools have played Keswick and have not fared so good. I think that Cambridge Christian deserves its #36 ranking. Congrats to the St. Pete Times for doing there research.

I thought Ryan Eppes played at QB for Countryside on Friday against Clearwater.......? I know it is fun to say Jumbo...but who gets the credit for playing QB? Maybe you guys should get back into Pinellas County instead of continuing your love affair with Hillsborough and Pasco.......the St. Pete Times is well...the ST.PETE TIMES not the Tampa or New Port Richey Times.....

Interesting Strawberry guy. The game should be a classic. One team is as bland as it comes. Simple I formation, little spread, little one back....very base 4 - 3 defense with some cover three and some cover two. The other team is out there. Two of the best backs in the area if not the state. They can run one back at a time, two backs at the same time, even take out the QB and run the spread with one at QB the other at RB. The offensive line is HUGE and can block. Then you have this defense so many of you are talking about. Let me see....Plant City guys, could it be possible you are talking so much because you Fear the Controlled Chaos? If a person (or team) is ready to play and believes in what they are doing and KNOW they are the better team then they really don’t need to talk....by the sheer fact you started this trash talking shows all of us you fear us....we did not need the boost but thank you for showing us fear. We are like sharks in the water when we smell blood...I love it. I cant wait...we know you have some players or you would not be here...we have some players too....last year when we were not a very good team you were 7 points better and only after a roughing the punter penalty.....As for all the talk about schedule let me add this. I get what your saying and we have a lot more class than a lot of teams in the county like Armwood for example. Rushing to the 50 yard line during stretches thats no class bush leauge stuff. I would like to know a couple of things. First, where do these kids find so much time during school hours to write in? Maybe they should spend a bit more time in their English classes. It is hard to argue your point when you can't clearly write one. Second, who cares about Brandon and Plant City anyhow. The real game to watch will be Ridgewood and Land-O-Lakes. Z-Hills vs. Hudson should be pretty good too. We are fighting for playoffs and yet no insults are flying. Perhaps Pasco County has more class then that.
