Hillsborough All-Star Game: Recruiting watch

The Hillsborough County All Star game, played tonight at Raymond James Stadium (7 p.m.) could be a huge showcase for some local guys, trying to catch the eye of some Division I coaches.

Some of the big names aren't playing -- Hillsborough's Moses McCray (FSU commitment), Middleton's Carlton Jones and Riverview's Jahleel Addae (WVU commit). But there are many other players that could make a difference tonight.

Here are some recruits to watch:

*Chamberlain senior defensive back Justin Bell: The senior blocked eight kicks this season, and provided shut down coverage for one of the county's best defenses. Bell's height (5-10) may not be the prototypical size, but that hasn't stopped Vanderbilt from showing serious interest. Or Eastern Kentucky, which will make a visit next week.

*Alonso's duo -- There's receiver Joe Clarke, who will likely choose between Miami of Ohio and Western Kentucky. Or senior defensive end Jamal Crook, one of the state's leaders in sacks, who has Tennessee State, Hofstra and Murray State on him.

*Wharton linebacker Joshua Powell - One year ago, Powell was the starting quarterback. But he turned into what coach David Mitchell calls the "John Lynch" of the Wildcats defense; a hard-hitter, Powell is savvy and could get some more looks after tonight. For right now, West Point is really after him (he's taken a visit there and Western Kentucky).

There are obviously plenty more - feel free to chime in with your picks to click.
