Alonso's Clarke commits to Miami (Ohio)

Logo_miami1 Alonso senior receiver Joe Clarke has verbally committed to Miami (Ohio), he confirmed to the Times Monday afternoon.

Clarke, the Ravens third leading receiver, made a visit to the Mid-American Conference school over the weekend, choosing the Redhawks over USF, Ole Miss, UAB and Western Kentucky.

"When I went there I learned how much of a family they are and what a great football atmosphere it had," Clarke said. "It felt like the right place."

Clarke was so convinced, he turned down an offer to visit Colorado State this weekend.

He said that his initial thought was to redshirt, but the Miami coaches told him to come ready to play; the Redhawks played eight true freshman last season, according to Clarke, so it's "not unnormal for them to do that."
