Blake's Ottanelli commits to Colgate

Blake senior offensive tackle Vittorio Ottanelli said Thursday he's verbally committed to play for Colgate.

Ottanelli, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman, also received interest from FIU, Elon, Murray State and New Hampshire. South Florida offered him a preferred walk-on but, but it was Ottanelli's visit to Colgate two weeks ago that helped seal the deal.

"The name, the education - everything," Ottanelli said. "I loved it up there. And a degree from Colgate - you're set."

Ottanelli loved the school's focus on academics; he said he had a 4.7 GPA and scored 1130 on his SAT. Ottanelli, who said he ran a 5.2 40, plans to play guard - at least for the start of his career.

A great college chioce for education and fooball. Seven Patroit with Three Ivy League games each season. High end academic and football option over FIU,Murray State, NHU and USF is a no brainer. Glad to see this young man utilized football to get into the best academic school on his list. Elon was a decent second chioce but does not have the same caliber of student athletes on the team. Good Luck, I see your smart already by your choice.

I had to pleasure to coach him in the Spring of 07. He is a hard worker and does everything full speed and a 100%. He will be very successfull. God bless.
