Hawks star sets commitment date
Armwood running back Eric Smith doesn’t know which college he will pick, but he knows what day he will make his choice public. Smith, a 5-foot-11, 227-pound senior, told the Times on Saturday he will make his commitment official at a press conference Jan. 19.
Auburn and Clemson are his finalists.
Smith is ranked as the country’s No. 3 fullback by Rivals.com. A three-year starter, he rushed for more than 1,200 yards last season in leading the Hawks to the Class 4A state semifinals. As a sophomore, he helped get Armwood to the state finals, where it lost to Tim Tebow and Ponte Vedra Beach Nease.
Smith will visit Auburn next weekend. He tripped to Clemson in November.
