Matzkin commits to Georgetown
Berkeley Prep two-way lineman Alex Matzkin didn't just make a verbal commitment to Georgetown over the weekend, he made a niche in Berkeley Prep history.
He becomes the first Buccaneer of the Dominick Ciao era to commit to a college.
Matzkin, a three-year varsity letterman for the Buccaneers, committed to the Division I-AA Hoyas after making an official visit to the Washington, D.C., campus over the weekend. Matzkin, who owns a 3.65 unweighted GPA, said he hopes to major in government, then attend law school.
Matzkin (6-foot-3, 265 pounds) played offensive guard and tackle and defensive tackle for Ciao. He said Georgetown recruited him as a guard.
