Newsome soccer standouts set to sign

Newsome senior sweeper Rudi Rodriguez and forward Jaime Smith plan to sign to continue their soccer careers next week.

The two Wolves just hope their high school careers are still alive.

Wolves coach Kelly Townsend said Rodriguez will sign with Troy, and Smith - the team's second leading scorer - will sign with Division II Saint Leo.

Rodriguez has racked up 15 points and Smith has tallied 12 goals in leading the Wolves to Friday's region final at George Jenkins. Newsome will be going for its second straight state semifinal berth.
