Plant's Winter gets Auburn offer
Plant senior receiver Derek Winter's busy travel week just got a lot better.
Winter, one of the state's top receivers, returned from an official visit to the University of Florida on Thursday to welcome Auburn coaches for a home visit. The Tigers, who had previously offered Winter a "gray shirt," offered him a full scholarship Thursday night, according to Plant coach Robert Weiner.
Weiner said he believes Winter is leaning toward either Auburn or Virginia, where he's going this weekend for an official visit.
"Auburn runs a more advanced college version (style of offense) of what we run," Weiner said. "(The Auburn coaches) could see on film Derek fit in well with that."
Weiner said junior quarterback Aaron Murray picked up another couple offers - from Iowa and Illinois - on Thursday.

Awesome. Auburn, UVA, and USF are not a bad choices. Like to see him stay local but Auburn offers that big SEC stage and UVA offers one of the best educations in the country.
