Middleton's Jones commits to FSU
Middleton senior tailback Carlton Jones made it official Wednesday; he'll play for Florida State.
Jones, one of the bay area's top backs, announced his decision during a ceremony at the school's media center.
The 5-foot-11, 215-pound senior had intially garnered interest from many major Division I programs; Tigers coach Harry Hubbard said that Florida offered Jones a scholarship before the 2007 season.
But the Gators backed off as the season wound down, and Toledo jumped at the opportunity. Jones made a visit there in early January and orally committed the folowing week. It wasn't until late last month that Florida State jumped into the sweepstakes for Jones, whom teammates call "SuperMan."
Jones, who rushed for 1,249 yards and 18 TDs last season, made his official visit to FSU last weekend before sealing the deal.
Two bay area standouts had already signed with FSU this year; Plant tackle Rhonne Sanderson and Hillsborough defensive lineman Moses McCray are the others.
