Wharton’s championship celebration time set

970_logo_2Wharton will celebrate its Class 5A state soccer title with a school pep rally Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. According to Wildcats coach Scott Ware, the school has invited both past principals, Mitch Muley and George Gaffney, along with Paul Wharton, the man for whom the school is named.

The Wildcats defeated Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas 2-1 Saturday at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium to claim the championship. The title was the first for any team in Wharton history.

Now for the funny part …

Because Ware lost a bet to the team, the players will be chopping off his locks in front of the crowd.
To say the least, it should be a fun day at Wharton.
