Bay Area Batting Order (Softball)...or shall we say, a new order?

Leadoff: Chamberlain (13-0)
Last week's ranking: 4th
Last week's results: defeated Plant, 5-4; defeated Riverview, 1-0
We've been clamoring for the Chiefs to deliver a quality win, and what do they do? Give us two in the same week. Meantime, all three teams ranked ahead of them stumble. Talk about quality and quantity.

Second: Countryside (13-2)
Last week's ranking: 3rd
Last week's results: defeated St. Petersburg, 17-0; defeated Gaither, 4-3; lost to Sickles, 4-1
After defeating Gaither behind another dazzling effort by freshman pitcher Alyssa Bache (10 strikeouts), the Cougars had the No. 1 ranking in the palm of their proverbial glove. Then the next night, they go out and lose to an 8-8 Sickles club in what our sports-vernacular textbooks refer to as a "trap" game.

Three-Hole: Gaither (14-3)
Last week's ranking: 1st
Last week's results: defeated St. Petersburg, 15-5; defeated Alonso, 8-0; lost to Countryside, 4-3
Forbes We're already anticipating the Gaither-Countryside "rubber match," which likely will be staged in the Class 6A, District 7 title game.

Cleanup: Land O'Lakes (10-0)
Last week's ranking: Seventh
Last week's results: defeated Pasco, 4-1; defeated Gulf, 8-2
If Land O'Lakes gastronomical shrine Hungry Harry's is ever in the market for a new barbecue sauce, itBradley  may want to check out the mustard on Michelle Bradley's riseball. The girl fanned 14 Pasco hitters.

Five-Hole: Plant City (9-2)
Last week's ranking: NR
Last week's results: defeated Riverview, 6-5; defeated Sarasota, 4-2
After a pair of ugly losses to Durant and East Bay, the Raiders have won four in a row. In a recent five-day stretch, they avenged their loss to Durant and edged a good Riverview team, which gives them two quality wins more than...

Sixth: Plant (13-2)
Last week's ranking: Sixth
Last week's results: lost to Chamberlain, 5-4; defeated Middleton, 12-2; defeated Jefferson, 12-5
The Panthers showed us something by giving Chamberlain all it wanted last week, but that still doesn't rank as a quality win.

Seventh: River Ridge (10-1)
Last week's ranking: NR
Last week's results: defeated Wesley Chapel, 14-0; defeated Pasco, 4-3; defeated Zephyrhills, 10-3
Dominant week for Ernie Beck's club, which has six -- yes, six -- everyday players batting over .500.

Eight-Hole: Pasco (13-2)
Last week's ranking: 2nd
Last week's results: lost to Land O'Lakes, 4-1; lost to River Ridge, 4-3; defeated Lakeland McKeel, 11-6; defeated Hudson, 11-0
Bittersweet week for Pirates, who lose the battle for Sunshine Athletic Conference supremacy, but prevail in a battle of the sexes. On Saturday, the Pirates defeated Pasco's baseball team, 5-3, in a rain-shortened fundraising softball matchup.

Ninth: East Lake (9-3)
Last week's ranking: NR
Last week's results: defeated Clearwater, 10-0; defeated Tarpon Springs, 11-0
In the last 12 days, the Eagles have defeated Palm Harbor University, and avenged February losses to Pinellas Park and Tarpon Springs.

On the bench: Nature Coast (13-2), Durant (15-5), Newsome (12-5), Sickles (8-8), Pinellas Park (13-5), Palm Harbor University (11-4), Tarpon Springs (9-4)

who ever made the comment about flag football, your dumb because this section is about the "softball" rankings. Who cares about flag football!

What about Flag football. Largo be raw. No one has scored on us yet this season!

You are right, Nevins is a great pitcher but she throws illegal all the time and the umpires are scared to call it. It's like the media has made her out to be untouchable. They list her era at.49 in 16 games which is roughly 8 earned runs yet she game up 7 earned runs to PHU in their first game and 5 against countryside in another. How does that work?

Tell her to stop crow hoping and some teams might have a chance. Although she is a great pitching. Very talented but every other pitch she crow hops!

sara nevins will finish the season with at least 300 k's, and as a sophmore thats just mind blowing. does anyone know what the county record is for strike outs in one season?
