The dish on Cooley

302_sheldon_cooleyTo date, Plant hoops standout Sheldon Cooley, a junior, has one scholarship offer. It came from Tennessee Tech. But Plant coach Mike Phillips says the following schools also have inquired about the 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard, who averaged 22.1 points and 8.7 rebounds this past season on his way to earning county Player-of-the-Year honors from the Times: Army, Brown, East Tennessee State, Florida International, Lehigh, Marshall, Ohio, Stetson, Tennessee-Martin, Tulane, USF, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina and Western Michigan. To those of you who have seen Cooley play, I pose this question: Based on his skills, what level would he be best suited for in college? Feel free to break it down for us.

he is a good player no question but like on his aau team he dosnt do a whole lot because their is 7 other good players there... i watched some games were he played good like 10 points and the rest but some just horrible .. he is a good player and i think he can be a 7th man somewher in Stetson or a small d1 school...

He is athletic and can put up big numbers in high school, but there are a million other kids just like him. He needs to pick up point guard skills to be effective at the next level, no major d1 university wants a 6'1-6'2 shooting guard with a medicore jumpshot. Good player but has much to improve on before he is a high d1 player.

3:23 true ....... he needs to do alot more for a high D1 Player... he is athletic and everything but he cant create anything by him self......

COOLEY IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO BAD, SO SAD, SO MAD, SOMEBODY GET HIM GLAD!!!

He should go to DUKE. He is the best player to EVER come out of this sorry basketball county.

cb YOU MUST BE PARENT

The only improvement Cooley need to work on is his 3 point shot( but who doesnt in this day and age) Not only does he perform on the offensive end he does it on defense as well. And that will land him minutes at a big D1 school. Ask Mc Donalds All American Luke Babbit about Cooley's defense.

He seems well suited for a mid-major D1, perhaps in the MAC, but probably not on scholarship. He may develop into a starter over time.
