Allen to attend prep school
Brandon guard Blake Allen told the Times on Wednesday he plans to pass up a scholarship offer from Division I USC Upstate to attend prep school. The 6-foot Allen, the leading scorer for the Eagles' final four team, will choose between IMG Academy in Bradenton, Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts and the prep school located on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
"I like all three," Allen said. "They're all pretty much even. I just have to look at the pros and cons. I'm trying to get everything done soon. "
A Times first-team All-County pick, Allen isn't going to prep school to work on his academics (he has a 4.8 GPA). He's going to work on his game. Allen, 18, hopes that by competing against high-level competition every day, his stock will improve and better scholarship offers will follow.
"That's the plan," Allen said. "IMG and Notre Dame Prep have (colleges) coming in all the time to evaluate the players."

I could have got him a better scholarship. He should have went to Oldsmar Christian.
