Giddins picked for Under Armour All-America Game
Armwood defensive end Ryne Giddins, one of the state's top football prospects for the Class of 2009, has been selected to play in the Under Armour All-America high school football game, which will be held next January at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando. Giddens (6-foot-4, 235 pounds) recently was named the 204th best prospect in his class by Rivals.com.
"He's worked extremely hard," Armwood coach Sean Callahan said. "He's in great shape and is really looking forward to next season."
Giddins, the Times defensive Player of the Year as a junior, has scholarship offers from many of college football's elite programs. That list includes Florida, Florida State and Miami. Giddins produced a school-record 21 sacks for the state semifinalist Hawks last fall, including three each in wins over Freedom and Wharton. He finished with 92 total tackles.
Giddins was one of eight Floridians to receive an invite.
