Bishop McLaughlin centerfielder Marcel Duarte, a third-team all-state selection last year and one of the Hurricanes' best hitters again this season, has orally committed to Johns Hopkins University.
If you thought the Johns Hopkins lacrosse team was something, how about them Blue Jay baseballers: a 27-4 record and 10-game win streak while owning the Centennial Conference (without a single Florida product on their roster).
Word is the school is also pretty good academically.
Duarte led the Hurricanes with 29 RBIs last season and helped the Hurricanes to their first postseason and postseason win while batting .373 and scoring 25 runs.
