BELLAMY NO WAYS SHOULD BE AHEAD OF HARVEY

Murray should be #1 There's not a better complete player in Fl. I wonder if Mrs. Esterhouse ever played football?

Neebs, who is numero uno?
Posted by: Buster | April 04, 2008 at 04:29 PM
Murray is numero uno
Posted by: Neebs | April 04, 2008 at 04:37 PM
Honestly, I think you could make an argument locally for either Murray or Giddins. My preference is Giddins, but only because a college coach told me long ago you win games with defensive line play. As for Murray, I said it last year and I'll say it again ... as good as Robert Marve was, I think Aaron is little more polished at this stage.

Well Keith I guess the experts at Rivals, Fl Varsity, Army All-Star Bowl, 54 college head coaches, etc. must see something you don't. Murray has all the skill and the intangeables that make him the best.

Yes, and they're ALWAYS right.
Hey, it's not like I ripped him. Just stating my opinion

where is jock jenkins on this list yall look out for him this year!!
Posted by: lakewood_09 | April 04, 2008 at 11:03 PM
I thought journalist stated facts not opinions. I guess this is a case of don't believe everything you read. P.S. Offense, including QBs, play a pretty important role in winning games.

No Murray offer from Ohio State or USC.
Petey and RG have Ohio State offers and USC is interested. USC isn't recruiting Murray, and if anybody says they are, they're lying. The top QB in the country already has committed there. USC is the most consistent program in the country, and it's not recruiting Murray. Yet it IS going after Petey and Ryne. Hard to call him the area's biggest recruit, right?
Posted by: GG | April 04, 2008 at 11:56 PM
screw OSU and USC! Auburn is where it's at! War Eagle! Seriously though, Auburn is a big recruiting power in the area. Don't be surprised if the tigers get a few to come to the plains.
Posted by: | April 05, 2008 at 01:30 AM
Yes, USC also expressed interest in Murray, but obviously he had no interest since Barkeley is their man. Did Petey and RG get offers from BOTH the Underarmour Bowl and the Army All American Bowl? Thought not. And we won't bother to list ALL (54) of the schools that Murray was OFFERED (including all SEC schools) and not just shown interest from. Let's not go there.

Keith
Aaron is very good and had a better Jr year (statistically) than Marve, but he doesn't even come close to Robert's mental toughness, focus and savvy in the big games. Aaron has to continue to develop the mental part of his game to compliment his obvious physical talents. We'll see how he adjusts to adversity in Game 1 vs his nemisis, the Hawks (2 losses)! Just like Marve, he has to get past the "Armwood hurdle" mentally first to beat them on the field. It's a tall order, but if he does, he can lead Plant back to Orlando this year. Game 1 is very important from a confidence standpoint.

Murray is the best player in Tampa!
Posted by: | April 05, 2008 at 05:30 PM
How many of these players do you believe the author of the list saw to make a comparison. Lists without any basis of watching everyone in the list is really not fair. You don't make lists until you can compare them with those ahead or below....
Another thought is that these guys are popping up on these lists that nobody had ever heard of in the past. How is it that nobody knew anything about them at the end of last season, but they cloimbed the ladder of football talent. How was that determined? By combines that offer little in the way of producing a true football player?
Just asking.......

Robert Marve 1-2 vs Armwood
Aaron Murray 0-2 vs. Armwood
How do you really "rank" recruits?
Posted by: | April 05, 2008 at 10:58 PM
I think that makes them a combined 1-4 vs. Da' Wood
Posted by: | April 05, 2008 at 11:00 PM
soon to be 1-5
let's point out that in the two games murray has played against Armwood, Giddins has more sacks than Murray has TD passes. OUCH
Posted by: | April 05, 2008 at 11:45 PM
1-4 with a nice ring on their finger!
Posted by: | April 06, 2008 at 12:48 AM
a ring nobody in 5 years will care about
Posted by: | April 06, 2008 at 01:20 AM
How many state titles does armwood have in the last 3 years? None. Lets stop thinking of them as some super power.
They run a vanilla offense and rely on superior athletes to win. They do play great defense (except agains Plant, Nease, and Booker T., the 3 really execptional offensive teams they have seen the last 3 years).
Plant is the future of Hillsborough County football. Jefferson is in sever decline, Chamberlains coach is abou 80, and Hillsborough has never won the big game (in the playoffs or otherwise).
Posted by: | April 06, 2008 at 09:12 AM
Best teams in the county next year ...
1. Armwood. Will roll Plant -- again -- twice. Best defense in area; Better running game than last year. State finals
2. Chamberlain. Defensive line likely will overpower Plant again; better offense will score on Plant more. 60-40 they beat Plant. State finals
3. Plant 8-2 ... with another loss to Armwood in the playoffs. Murray will have 45 TD passes against other 8 opponents; 3 vs. Chamberlain; 1 in two games vs. Armwood. No running game; mediocre o.line
Posted by: | April 06, 2008 at 09:51 AM
Not sure what Marv has to do with this discussion, he needs to start competing at the college level since he will be 2 years removed from high school and stop worry about competing with Murray
Posted by: | April 07, 2008 at 01:32 PM
Armwood has a history of cheating.
All they do is steal other people's players. They have no class. Anyone who has played them knows they are a bunch of punks. And when their kids go to college, they flunk out. They don't even have the grades to play unless they take 8 weight lifting classes. Look how many people have transferred to their D school this off-season for academic reasons. The county lets them get away with murder. At least Plant conducts themselves with class..
Posted by: Murray #1 in Tampa | April 08, 2008 at 02:37 PM
Gotta love the cheatin Hawks. Boring team, boring uniforms, D school.
Posted by: Tomas | April 09, 2008 at 09:46 AM
yeah classy plant. Ask anyone how many classes Marve actually showed up for. Plant covers for their pampered atheletes as much as Armwood. The parents at Plant even try to buy playing time by fixing up the coaches house!!! The more amazing thing is that the coach is classless enough to take it!
Posted by: | April 14, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Well the coach really had no choice but to accept it I mean he couldnt just say "take it all off I want my house the way it was" LOL
As for Armwood cheating, It sounds more like sour grapes and kids wanting to go to a school with a legit shot at competing for a state title. Only Armwood and Plant maybe even chamberlin can do that.
And Plant has many transfers as well such as a kid living in Riverview some 25 miles away transfering to lil ole south Tampa Plant High school.
You should not throw stones if you live in glass house.
Oh I also here that there was a lot more covered up about Marve then we will ever know.
Drugs, pregnancies and the whole 9.
Let's just hope that he represents Tampa proud down in Miami.
