Brandon-Newsome a formal affair
This morning, Brandon and Newsome players had to pack their formal shoes with their cleats, their
cumberbunds with their batting gloves and their tuxedos with their uniforms.
Their Class 5A region semifinal game today at Brandon's Don Powell Field was moved up three hours to a 4 p.m. start time because both schools have prom tonight.
Brandon coach Matt Stallbaumer said several calls had to be made to
change the time on such short notice, but one thing that helped is all the relationships between the two schools.
"The last thing was talking to the principals, and the Newsome principal (Rebecca Fitzgerald) was actually the principal that hired me at Brandon, so there are a lot of relationships here," Stallbaumer said.

And how (or why) does this make news? Must be a slow day in h.s. sports.
