Dunedin wins.

The Falcons rolled over nationally-ranked Plant 8-2 Friday night in a game that was never close.

Clay Kollenbaum was super -- 6 IP, 3 hits allowed, 13 strikeouts.
Lots of help from:
Jake Rogers, who hit a towering homer to center in the first inning and was 4-for-4.
Max Kreuter and Casey Turgeon, who each had two hits.
Catcher Ryan Schneider, who had two hits and two RBI.

Falcons 1-4 hitters were 9-for-18 with seven runs scored; Plant's were 4-for-14.

If Plant coach Dennis Braun will hoping a slower pitcher with good breaking stuff was the way to beat Dunedin -- and generally, it has been -- he was wrong Friday as he surprised everyone by starting Lowe instead of Givens. The Falcons may have struck out eight times in the first three innings, but they also had nine hits and a 5-0 lead afterwards.

Pasco, Cambridge, CCC and Northside Christian all won as well, so baseball is alive and well in Tampa Bay.

Way to go Dunedin, now show Seminole how to beat North Port

Clay had a good game - which is unlike him - pitching game that is. Because I believe he was 0 for 4 at the plate (struck out 4 Xs that is) with 1 walk. As far as pitching, batters usually get on by being hit by Clay. Don't believe he could repeat his performance if he tried.

solid fundamental game by dunedin. congrats

Sounds like someone who posted knows the Dunedin pitcher well, trouble with control, strike zone, etc.Hey, No cause for alarm the home plate ump will correct these mistakes with his calls. A worse exhibit of incomptance behind home plate has rarely been seen even at little league level. This guy should never be allowed to call another game period. How sad for a HACK like this to get the Plant hitters off balance to the point they have to swing at any and everything because of his total disregard for a consistant strike zone.

Must have been the same umpire that did the Tampa Catholic-Bishop Verot game. He was also very inconsistant.

Dunedin better thank the home plate ump for the win - was he on their payroll or is he just THAT BAD? Plant's just not use to swinging at bad pitches - they deserved better.

Come on people! It is time to act like adults. Pinellas county deserves a 5A State Title since the school board stopped out of county travel. It is time to cheer for the team that has the only chance to bring that home. Give the Dunedin Falcons the credit they deserve. The are playing the level of baseball that needs to be played to win State.

Im a Seminole fan , but Im very happy for Dunedin ,great job , bring the 5a title home to Pinellas.

Does anyone know if Florida Christian won?

I agree
good luck dunedin bring the title home to pinellas county

Wow...Tampa fan sure is a whiner. Zone was consistently bad for both sides. Saw it on TV so camera angle was terrible, but Dunedin batters were just as befuddled as Plant batters at some strike calls. Difference is, Dunedin shook it off and raked the actual strikes. Plant let it get to them mentally and did nothing with the hittable pitches. Shocking that Kollembaum was mentally tougher than a "nationally ranked" (whatever) team.

Plant has never lost anything where their fans didn't whine about the officiating or some "other" reason it wasn't their fault for losing. Nationaly ranked by a website run by Plant students.

I was not impressed at all w/ plant
I hope dun dun will win states

y wont pinellas let us play out of county teams?

So i guess north county really is better haha

Plant looked like the Bad News Bears on CRACK...this 'Nationally Ranked' team looked like a bunch of clowns. The next thing plant fans are going to say is 'that wasn't the real players, they were imposters', the pitchers couldn't pitch, the hitters couldn't hit and the leader of the pack threw a tantrum, but it was all the umpires fault, that's what happens when you face a real team. What a BUNCH OF 'WANNA BE' LOSERS.

Hey Jerry, 6:21 , I normally love to come onto this blog & retaliate to comments that are blatantly rediculous, but this time i will refrain from saying anything derogative about Plant because of the respect I have for several of those kids "not coach" & for how well behaved the parents were from the start through the finish of the game , more class as a whole than anyone we have played all season. however the comment about the ump is silly & imature. Is this the same ump from the first game that we beat you the same way ? Why can't you just say congradulations , you were the better team. SAY IT !!!!

i just love people thanking the home plate ump for our win. what about our 10 hits and jake rogers BOMB? yea the umps must of hit it for them. stop hating becuase we have proved that we are fighting with CCC for the best team in the county. seminole fans and players just love to talk on this site. just remember whos going to the regional finals losers

Its funny what no one realizes is that the reason Plant died after Rogers BOMB is because 1) The genius they call a coach didn't start their ace. and 2) Dunedin has beat them the past three years in preseason. It was over before it started in some minds.

To answer a question...Florida Christian lost to Chaminade which is a shame because FC vs. American Heritage would have been a good game.

Florida Christian lost to Chaminade 4-3

Plant Baseball Parents
It does not matter that you lost, after all, your kids are getting a scholarship to play at the next level right?
Overrated and overwith. Your run is done. Oops, wait. You never had a run!

Well,so much for all the Tampa bloviating about the schools in Pinellas playing in a "weak league".... There is little in this world quite so satisfying as arrogance humbled.

jake rogers is almost as raw as tim L

To all of the umpire bashers, "strap it on!!!" you gutless hide behind the fence big mouths. Umpires are the greatest union in America!!! There's always a game tomorrow for us!!!

lets not lose focus on whats important here people.

clay kollembaum is still really ugly and jay taylor still cant hit a baseball.

thanks for reading :)

well you see clay is pretty ugly though have you seen him tim L is 100 times cuter

Cotey...your such a horrile writer a terrible commentator... i wonder how bad you must of sucked at baseball! cause you do know @#&$!!! i was watching that game on tv and i was waiting for you to say he scored a touchdown. when rogers hit that homerun.

I don't necessarily think Cotey is a terrible writer or commentator, but I do know that it hurt like hell for him to have to say anything good about Dunedin. No matter how hard you tried, you can't deny that Dunedin is a better team than them. & please don't continue to jump on the bandwagon that the officiating cost them the game. Just like another blogger put above, Dunedin figured the ump out & hit when it was necessary. And Givens wasn't their answer either. They probably should have gone to another of their youngest slowest leftys if they had one.
