Givens receives invite to Aflac All-American Game
After a stellar junior season, Plant pitcher/shortstop Mychal Givens has been invited to play in the prestigious Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic, which features the top rising high school seniors each summer, Plant coach Dennis Braun confirmed Thursday.
Givens emerged as Plant's top pitcher, going 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA. As the Panthers' No. 2 hitter for most of the season, Givens hit .421 with 34 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 17 RBIs and a .521 on-base percentage.
The game, which will be played on August 9 at a site still to be
determined, is a game played in an East vs. West format showcasing high school players who are believed to be some of the top professional prospects the upcoming season. Riverview's Anthony Ferrara was named to the team last season and Hillsborough's Michael Burgess made the squad in 2006.
Players are selected by the Perfect Game Cross Checker, said Mechell Clark, spokesperson for Aflac, and official announcement of the team members will happen on June 5.

Cross checkers need to be cross checked, hey they make mistakes too. Must never have seen him throw a bat, or a mit or whine....

Why can't a ballplayer wear his hat correctly? It's an abomination.

This kid has been overrated for years. He has an ok arm, but needs it because he has hands of steel at short. He is an outfielder maybe, and his hitting is average. His batting stats are padded. He has been Braun's baby for years. OVERRATED

This was suppose to be a confidential invite until May 23rd. Shows the class of the kid, cannot even follow rules!
Who leaked this him or his COACH

i played with him over the summer in wood bat. he has no power hitting but does have speed. pitching wise he just has very good velocity on his fastball but nothing else. on short though he plays well for a junior but yes I think there arer better players in the state that are juniors.
Posted by: | May 12, 2008 at 03:54 PM
Yes overrated - and that will hurt him in the long run.
Posted by: | May 13, 2008 at 09:18 AM
Played with him, watched the crappy hitting-chop swings. A pitcher??, lazy no work out regime-its all about ME!!!!
More concerned about placement of hat than the ball.
Over rated & over hated. Zero class-remember the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

This kid can't hold water, he has the biggest mouth in the school, that's why he's so over hated. A total DRAMA QUEEN. He better be somewhat good, he is TECHNICALLY SUPPOSED TO BE A SENIOR this year not a junior. That's why his coach is promoting him full time with Adkins, because he can't get into a
D-1,2,3,or 4 school.

put your hat on straight!! looks like a punk on the corner

He is overrated, but if you watch the college world series today, look at how many players have their cap twisted alittle. That's baseball baby.
