Hernando finalists announced
Hernando will interview five finalists Friday afternoon for its football job with a new coach to be named next week.
Among the finalists are current coach Rodney Byrd, Port St. Joe coach John Palmer and Winfield (Ala.) coach Danny Adams. All three were finalists during last year's search.
Incoming Hernando principal Ken Pritz made all supplemental positions open to the public. Interviews begin at 2 p.m. Friday and conclude by 6:30 p.m.
The other finalists include Celebration athletic director/football coach Eddie Carnley and Trinity Valley Community College assistant John Launius.

Do not hire Eddie Carnley under any circumstances. He lies about how good his teams are, and then goes out and pummels them.

I have to disagree with the first commentor. I just happened to be looking for some old football pics online when I came upon this article. I played for Eddie Carnely in Seminary, MS, and he was by far the best coach I ever had. He puts everything he has into his coaching and his players. His compassion for his players does not end when he leaves the field. Coach Carnely once gave me the money to cover my class ring that had been taken from me by Balfour because my Mom's check bounced. He later was my landlord when I got out of college and he gave me an old T.V. for my wife and I to watch when I first got married and didn't have hardly any money. He offered to try and find schools I could play for after high school if I had still wanted to play. He would spend hours viewing films, scouting teams, and washing our uniforms night after night during football season after having taught all day and still having to spend time with his family when he got home. He taught me how to drive in Driver's Ed. and was very patient with me. (Believe me- there are crowns in Heaven for him on that one- my wife can vouch for that.) I've never seen someone care so much about their job and their players. I moved over 14 times from 2nd to 12th grade and played football at several different schools and for several different coaches before I came to Seminary, and I can promise you that Eddie Carnely is a top notch man and coach with a huge heart. Your program will only benefit by having him. I now have a 6 month old son and hope that he will have a coach one day that can make as much difference in his life as Coach Carnely made in mine. I'm not sure if he'll ever see this posting, but I've always wanted to thank him for all he did for me so maybe this will help. Thank you.
Sincerely,
B.J. Morrison
