Homecoming for two local softball players

Two Hillsborough County softball players now at top-ranked Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville 2008_njcaa_national_champio_5will  return home next week for the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I women's softball national championship being held in Plant City.

Freshman third baseman Kristina Cruz (Academy of the Holy Names) and freshman second baseman Nadirah Nesfield (Sickles) play for the Saints. 

Nesfield is hitting .363 with 24 runs scored, 29 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. Cruz is batting .257 with four homers and 25 RBIs.

The Saints (51-3) have been ranked No. 1 in the Ringor NJCAA Division I poll for five weeks now. The national championships, which will include 16 teams, with be held May 15-17 at Plant City Stadium and the Randy L. Larson Softball Fourplex.
