Kollenbaum grounds out first base to the pitcher. It's 0-0 at the end of one-half of an inning here at beautiful Ed Emith Stadium.

Ryan Breen strikes out looking.
Posted by: Bob Putnam | May 15, 2008 at 07:12 PM
Another strikeout looking. Two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:13 PM

Hey Cotey I got ya covered, Hows warm brownies sound?
Posted by: Tim | May 15, 2008 at 07:15 PM
Will Claunch, No. 3 hitter, walks.
Pitcher Dan Harper steps in.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:15 PM
Interesting factoid: According to the Palm Beach Post, South Fork has never won a state title in any team sport.
Posted by: Keith Niebuhr | May 15, 2008 at 07:16 PM
Stolen base.
And I looooove warm brownies.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:16 PM

Posted by: Tim | May 15, 2008 at 07:18 PM
Kollenbaum strikes out Harper. Looked like a change-up, but it was some serious offspeed junk. He has his good stuff tonight.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:19 PM
0-0 after 1 inning of (limited) action.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:20 PM
Ryan Schneider pops out to CF to start the second inning.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:21 PM
Cam Fisher skies one to third. Two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:22 PM
Harper, the South Fork pitcher, is a big boy. Good looking lefty. But he looks entirely hittable and is not the overpowering type, I'd guess.
That said, Max Priest walks.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:23 PM
2-0 on Mike Kumbat, runner on first, two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:23 PM
Kumbat bounces one to short, but the SS kind of sits back on it and his throw is high, and Priest goes to 3B and Kumbat's on first.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:25 PM

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:29 PM
who?
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:29 PM
Interesting factoid No. 2: South Fork shortstop Spencer Dickinson is the son of former pro golfers Judy and Gardner Dickinson (if you're a fan of golf, you probably remember both). Garder, who died in 1998, was a founder of the Senior PGA Tour. (you can reach more about him HERE ... http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9405E0DC163FF931A15757C0A96E958260

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:32 PM
Sorry, but lots of foul balls. And another one was just hit. The count is 2-2 on the second hitter of the inning, and inning that began 43 minutes ago (or so it feels).
There. Happy?
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:33 PM
One addition to the Spencer Dickinson note ... his mother was once president of the LPGA. Okay enough about the Fork for now
Posted by: Keith Niebuhr | May 15, 2008 at 07:33 PM
Blake Cilwick strikes out swinging at a high fastball. Two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:33 PM
Thank you John
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:33 PM
And ANOTHER strikeout for Kollenbaum as Tyson Young whiffs swinging.
That's five Ks. He looks good.

Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:37 PM
top of third 0-0
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:37 PM
okay, I lied --- one more South Fork post .... Eric Pfahler of Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers just gave me this pretty neat fact .... A year ago, South Fork's shortstop was a kid named Glen Johnson. He's the son of former Clearwater legend Howard Johnson, who was a pretty good player in the Majors.
Posted by: Keith Niebuhr | May 15, 2008 at 07:38 PM
J-Rog steps in.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:38 PM
how about you give us score updates? quit complaing if he adds something to what happens.
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:38 PM

Rogers chops over the 1B's head for a single, and Turgeon hustles over to third.
Jamo is up.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:39 PM
Dunedin is staying patient at the plate again. Last night, they drew 10 walks. Tonight, three so far.

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Cotey will be fine soon as he finishes his chocolates
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:40 PM
who scored?
Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:41 PM
Turgeon scores on a grounder by Jamo, Rogers out 3-to-5 trying to go to third after he was called safe at 2nd on a DP attempt. He didn't know he was safe, started walking towards dugout.
Kollenbaum singles. Runners on first (Jamo) and second (Special K) with one out.

Wild pitch and Jamo gets over the 3B.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:42 PM
Jamo gets over TO third base. Runners on first and third, and there's a conference on the mound by some concerned South Fork people.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:43 PM

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:44 PM
Schneider, who drew two walks last night, draws another. The bases are all full up of Falcons, and Cam Fisher strolls to the plate.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:44 PM
Turgeon has now scored a combined three runs in two state tournament games. Sweat now has three RBIs.

Tyson Young singles past Turgeon, scoring Beck to cut the Dunedin lead to 2-1.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:55 PM
The score is 2-1, the exact score of the 1964 state championship game between Dunedin and Tate.
Just saying.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:56 PM
That was Kollenbaum's first run allowed in his past eight innings, dating back to last week's region final against North Port.

Breen strikes out looking.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 07:58 PM

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 07:59 PM
Coach of that '64 team was Chick Pollock.
There's a 2-1 count on Spencer Dickinson.
Posted by: Cotey | May 15, 2008 at 08:00 PM
Turgeon is a very talented kid who learned all his skills from his family. All the Turgeons can play baseball. He was cultivated since he learned to walk. Great family the kid happens to be humble about his ability.

Posted by: | May 15, 2008 at 08:00 PM

Intrepid Tampa reporter Keith Niebuhr said "If Kollenbaum gets out of the third inning, Dunedin wins. He looks nervous. But he has good stuff. If he gets out, he'll be more confident and coast.''
For what that's worth.
