LIVE FROM SARASOTA: Dunedin vs. Brandon
Stay tuned to tampabay.com for live updates from tonight's FHSAA Class 5A state semifinal between
Dunedin and Brandon from Ed Smith Stadium here in Sarasota. Check in the comments section for updates. Times Hillsborough prep writer Eduardo A. Encina, Pinellas prep writer Bob Putnam and prep columnist John C. Cotey will provide updates in the section below.
UPDATE 5:38 p.m: It's a little warm here in Sarasota, but its a comfortable 70-some degrees here in the Ed Smith press box. We're in the second inning of the Class 2A semifinal between Fort Meade and Providence. Providence leads 6-0 in the bottom of the second, so would could see an early finish -- and an on-time start for tonight's game. (Eduardo A. Encina)
UPDATE 5:41 p.m.: Also, we know who will play the winner of tonight's Dunedin-Brandon game tomorrow night at 7. South Fork (27-5) advanced to the Class 5A state final with a 3-0 win over Niceville. South Fork lefthander Tyson Young pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking two. South Fork catcher Ryan Breen was the only batter with multiple hits, hitting a triple and a single. (Eduardo A. Encina)
UPDATE 5:47 p.m.: More on South Fork for those interesting in pregame scouting -- We all know Brandon came into the game streaking, but the Bulldogs won their ninth straight game this afternoon. They've won 14 of their last 15. Brandon pitching assistant Ernie Johns and several of the Brandon pitchers arrived early to scout that game. (Eduardo A. Encina)
UPDATE 6:17 p.m.: One of the cool things about the state baseball finals in Florida is the access that competing teams get to major league spring training facilities. While the 2A game continues, both teams are taking batting practice in the Ed Smith fourplex beyond rightcenter field, which will be used by the Reds for one more season before they bolt for Arizona. Dunedin is practicing on the Tony Perez Field and Brandon taking its swings on the Frank Robinson Field. (Eduardo A. Encina)
UPDATE 7:07 p.m.: Tonight's starting lineups straight off the presses (Brandon is the home team).:
Dunedin
1. LHP Max Krueter
2. 2B Casey Turgeon
3. SS Jake Rogers
4. 3B Jamison Sweat

UPDATE 7:52: We just finished the National Anthem, and both teams are posing for photos. We should start on time. And in more important news, Cotey is here. Let the Blogopolooza begin. (Eduardo A. Encina)

Mr. Encina-what has been the single greatest key to Brandon's success? I'll hangup and listen
Posted by: Brad Hamilton | May 14, 2008 at 06:45 PM
Brandon's success has been on the pitching because you already know Brandon is going to swing the bat well
Posted by: Mr.Angotti | May 14, 2008 at 07:03 PM
As a parent from a rival school, the single biggest improvement for this Dunedin team over the last several years, is that they have FINALLY learned how to be patient and hit the off speed pitch.
Posted by: Tim Booth | May 14, 2008 at 07:17 PM
I'd have to agree with Mr. Angotti. Ernie Johns, Brandon's new pitching coach, has done a remarkable job of turning a talented young staff of arms into quality pitchers.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 07:49 PM
I don't wanna say this is a big game, but I just opened my laptop and people around me claim they heard angels signing.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 07:55 PM
Oh, and while Encina and Putnam update in the main blog area, I'm going to be in comments with the people. Because I am one with the people. Because you are my people. Oh, and Max Kreuter steps in. First pitch, swing and a miss.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 07:58 PM
First two batters walk. Dunedin's Jake Rogers steps in and takes a ball.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:01 PM
Austin Browder having much trouble finding the zone. But he goes 3-2 on Rogers and gets him swinging.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:03 PM
For Brandon to be successful they have to get through the 1stinng with no trouble. Austin Browder just has to live low and he will be fine
Posted by: Mr.Angotti | May 14, 2008 at 08:03 PM
OK, we'll come out from out perverbial blogging cover and join Cotey. After walking the first two, big full count swinging strikeout by Browder.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:03 PM
Runners move up to 2nd and 3rd on a WP, but Browder goes 3-2 on Jamison Sweat and whiffs him. Two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:05 PM
Strikeout in the dirt and a 2-3 to first. Two outs. Runners at second and third after a wild pitch
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:05 PM
Browder goes 3-2 on Clay Kollenbaum, who proceeds to ground out to SS.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:06 PM
who won the 2A game?
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:07 PM
Very nice job by Browder, who went three balls to every hitter but manages to escape unscathed. Sophomore threw 29 pitches in the inning.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:07 PM
North Florida Christian and Providence won the 2A games.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:08 PM
Nice job by Browder to get out of the jam, stranding two in scoring position. That's something that the sophomore lefthander's been working on. He realizes he doesn't have to make the perfect pitch. But he had to throw some extras. He threw 29, and went full to four of the five batters.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:09 PM
Hey Cotey so there is one out and a man on 1st and 2nd
Posted by: Mr.Angotti | May 14, 2008 at 08:09 PM
Not a great way to start throwing so many pitches, I'm sure he'll settle down. Do they have some good relief pitchers or a solid closer?
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:10 PM
you have to hit refresh
Posted by: jk | May 14, 2008 at 08:10 PM
It's 340 down the lines, 375 to the gaps and 400 to dead center. Anyone have a guess as to how many, if any, homers are hit? I'm going with ZERO.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:11 PM
2-0 Brandon
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:13 PM
what?
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:13 PM
Ramsay up after Arce was hit by a pitch. He's been the ignitor of many Brandon rallies. And Ramsay just gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead on a single to center that got skipped Mike Kumbat and to the wall clearing the bases.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:14 PM
First batter was hit, second batter (Eric Arce) lined one to center, poorly played out there and it rolled to fence, allowing Arce to come all the way around and score easily. 2-0.
Jake Rogers just booted one at short, runner now on first. No outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:14 PM
Smith reaches on an E6. Errors on back-to-back batters.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Roderick Shoulders is the biggest sophomore I've ever seen. He just hit into a 6-4-3 double play though.
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:16 PM
ugh oooo, sounds like Dunedin is a little shaky
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:16 PM
4-6-3, I meant
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:16 PM
After the DP, Chris Bradford walks.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:17 PM
Kumbat's error was costly. According to our stat sheets, that was Kumbat's first error of the season. As a team, the Falcons committed 38 errors on the season, roughly 1.1 a game.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:20 PM
So, here's a pressbox debate. Help me:
First runner reaches on HBP.
Second batter singles to center, ball rolls by Kumbat, allowing both runners to score. I'm saying both those runs are unearned because they both scored as a result of the error.
The official scorer here says no, only one is unearned run, since the first baserunner would have scored anyway on the following two outs had their not been an error.
You make the call.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:20 PM
Haynes strikes out to end the inning.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:20 PM
Both unearned
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 08:21 PM
had THERE not been an errors. Man, I ate way too many sugar cookies at dinner.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:21 PM
So Sweat does't like his team -- so he transfered -- sounds like the Yankees -- no wonder Dunedin is there !!!
Posted by: Luigie | May 14, 2008 at 08:22 PM
any veggies with those cookies
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:22 PM
Well, the official ruling is one run is earned. Makes no sense to me. You can't assume the runner would have come around.
But anyway:
Ryan Schneider walks. Cam Fisher singles. Wild pitch moves both up a base with no outs. Dunedin has something cooking again.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:23 PM
Jeech, Cotey and is sugar cookies. Runners at first and second for Dunedin after Browder walks Schneider and Cam Fisher singles to left.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:23 PM
Walk to Max Priest. Bases loaded.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:23 PM
juiced Cotey bases are juiced
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:24 PM
Kumbat is up. He can atone for his error right here, and he does a little, driving in a run with a sac fly to right.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:24 PM
A walk to Priest, and Mr Browder is officially in a jam. Check that, runners advance on Kumbat's sac fly to right. 2-1 Brandon runners at second and thirs and one out.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:25 PM
1st and 3rd (Fisher took third on the fly to right). One out. Kreuter up.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:26 PM
Kreuter slams a 3-run homer, and it's 4-2 Dunedin.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:26 PM
Kreuter's fourth homer was a shot. You knew it was gone right away, nice liner and quick to get out of here.
Turgeon is plunked with a pitch, and Browder gets a visit to the mound by his coach.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:28 PM
Dunedin will hit one more before the nights out
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 08:28 PM
Rogers settles in. Browder is all over the place.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:29 PM
Tim, well done.
Rogers just went deep. 6-2.
Gimme your lottery numbers, dude!
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:30 PM
Atta boy Jake!
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 08:30 PM
Jamison Sweat strikes out for the second out here in the top of the second.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:31 PM
Clay Kollenbaum lines out to CF. It's 6-2, and now, to bring you the bottom of the 2nd inning, Mr. Eduardo A. Encina.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:32 PM
Two keys so far for the Falcons. They've been patient at the plate, drawing four walks. And they have an advatage playing some home games at Knology, a minor-league park. They're already used to playing in stadiums this big with these dimensions.
Posted by: Bob Putnam | May 14, 2008 at 08:33 PM
After that six-run inning, Brandon faces an early uphill climb unlike any this postseason. The Eagles have never trailed this early in a game. And they've hadn't allowed six runs in an inning. They allowed five against Winter Haven in the region final opener.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:34 PM
Dewey grounds out to second and Bennett flies out to right. Two quick outs in the second for Kreuter.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:36 PM
If the runner gets on with a hit or on base with out and error and then scores with less than 2 outs, the run is earned.
Posted by: Facts | May 14, 2008 at 08:36 PM
According to my research, never before in the history of state baseball has a team had back-to-back hitters named Spencer in their lineup like Brandon does.
Granted, my research consists of thinking back to the state tournament's I've attended and involving only the teams I've covered, soooooooo....
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:36 PM
Derek Dungan's a tough No. 9 hitter, and he drew a walk to keep the inning alive.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:37 PM
The Falcons are gelling at the right time and they are oozing with confidence, not overconfidence as Falcon teams in the past
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 08:37 PM
Arce laced a 0-2 delivery to right for a single, giving the Eagles runners at first and second.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:38 PM
Bases loaded with Mike Smith up...cue the music.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:42 PM
3-2 to smith, bases loaded two down, fouled to right out of reach
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:43 PM
Ball four high. Arce steps home. 6-3
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:44 PM
Shoulders pops up to short....inning over three left on.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:45 PM
I'm back. Heading into top of the third, it's 6-3, Kreuter works out of a bases loaded fix.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:46 PM
Browder walked Schneider to lead off the inning. He's up to 64 pitches. Enjoy him while you can.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:47 PM
Cam Fisher strikes out. Alex Libby, running for Schneider, is on first.
And then he's not. He just got picked off. Two outs.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:50 PM
As Cotey astutely pointed out, Browder has thrown a lot of pitches, and Matt Stallbaumer's approach will be to play for today. All five other pitchers will be available, so with Browder's pitch count getting up there, how long is his leash?
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:50 PM
Priest strikes out looking. Nothing for Dunedin, and we head to the bottom of three. Oh, Eeeeeeeeeedddddd. Your turn.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:51 PM
If Stallbaumer is like Clearwaters coach the kid will finish the night
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Brandon opens the top of the third with a first-pitch single to left by Chris Bradford. This bottom of the lineup doesn't mash like the top, but they can get the job done.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:52 PM
Spencer Dewey took the 1-1 pitch to left and flew out.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Correction that was Spencer Haynes flying out to left. Dewey just flew out to center.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:54 PM
Looks like Fisher has moved to center, and Kumbat is in left.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:54 PM
pretty sure fisher was in center the whole time
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 08:55 PM
Matt Bennett walks to bring up Dungan with runners at first and second
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 08:58 PM
Jake Rogers with a great, over-the-shoulder catch. Willie Mays-esque.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 08:59 PM
Kumbat flies out to center to start the 4th. Kreuter strikes out.
Here comes Rogers.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:02 PM
Kumbat flies out to center to start the 4th. Kreuter strikes out.
Here comes Casey Turgeon, I meant. Sheesh.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:02 PM
Dunedin down by 2. Does Sweat have enogh time to transfer to Brandon?
Posted by: John | May 14, 2008 at 09:03 PM
Turgeon strikes out swinging. That was Browder's best inning, he looked really sharp and now has seven strikeouts.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:03 PM
Cotey, lay off the cookies
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:03 PM
John, lay off your keyboard
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:05 PM
There are so chewy and delicious though!
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:05 PM
what is the score?
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:06 PM
6-3 dun
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM
Arce struck out to lead off the fourth. Big out for Kreuter, who hadn't been able to keep the sophomore off the bases yet.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM
6-3 Dun Dun
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM
thanks 9:07
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:08 PM
Did Sweat transfer yet? He wants to play HS baseball another year. Maybe than he will get a college offer!
Posted by: John | May 14, 2008 at 09:08 PM
so as a former dunedin catcher, actually the last to play in the state finals...yes i started on the 32-0 dunedin team that lost to ridgewood....whats the score and inning?
Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:08 PM
I have to admit. The cookies are good. Ramsay walks on five pitches.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:08 PM
Lineup sheet in the press box had it wrong. Mike Kumbat is in leftfield, Cammeron Fisher is in center. It's been that way all game.
Posted by: Bob Putnam | May 14, 2008 at 09:08 PM
Wow, now you start talking about their transfers, when they've done it for years?
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 09:09 PM
bottom 4
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Mike Smith just hit a strike to straight-away center. Woulda been out at Don Powell. Here it's a warning-track F8.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:09 PM

Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:10 PM

Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:11 PM

Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:11 PM
Kreuter gets Rock Shoulders looking. He's 0-for-3 on the night. Back to you, Cotey.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:11 PM
I'm back.
So is Jake Rogers.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:12 PM
Sweat still playing for Dunedin? Maybe he should transfer to South Fork, they are in the finals!
Posted by: John | May 14, 2008 at 09:12 PM
my thoughts exactly, stupid tape delay im sure, who wants to watch the game 5 days after we already know who won....
Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:12 PM
Rogers walks.

Posted by: John | May 14, 2008 at 09:15 PM
Good bye
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:15 PM
Kollenbaum goes yard on a 3-2 pitch. No. 6 on the year. Guy has been on fire. It's 8-3, and Browder heads to the showers.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:16 PM

5th
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:21 PM
Austin Browder won some big games for the Eagles, but tonight wasn't his night. He allowed eight runs -- including three homers -- on just four hits over 4 1/3 innings. Six walks were huge. He struck out seven.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:22 PM
you can't blame anyone for leaving phuhs - stuck up kids and stuck up parents - and they're garbage
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:22 PM
GOOOOO DUNEDINNN!
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:22 PM
Geez John, This obsession you have for Sweat is starting to get a bit embarrassing
Posted by: Dave | May 14, 2008 at 09:22 PM
if i know anything from actually playing at dunedin, hilbert will pull his pitcher too early and the relief pitcher will get shelled....happend every year i played....hilbert cost us 4 state championships
Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:23 PM
saying sweat is a nice kid might be a stretch though
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:23 PM
8-3
5th
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:24 PM
You know that I understand the Sweat situation, thats what worries you.Great talent that was not recruited by any college becuase he transferred as a senior. Period. With his skill he should be a Major D1 player. This should serve as a lesson to others.
Posted by: john | May 14, 2008 at 09:24 PM
3 homeruns for dunedin
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:24 PM
Bradford struck out to open the fifth and Haynes popped out to first. Dewey singles.

Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:26 PM
For the record Dunedin will win the State!!
Posted by: john | May 14, 2008 at 09:27 PM
one thing i learned from being at dunedin was that talent means nothing...i had enough talent to go D1 and it all comes down to how much your coach throws your name out there. i was unfortunate to not get any offers because i was behind 1st rounders..its all about how the head coach gets you out there, hilbert is a what can you do for me kinda guy

how about cheering for our team instead of arguing about who transfers get over it it's done with go dunedin you guys are doing a great job bring this one home.
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:27 PM
One more note on Browder. The six walks marked a season high. He walked five twice.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:27 PM
Kreuter struck out Bennett looking to end the inning. He's rolling now.
Posted by: Eduardo A. Encina | May 14, 2008 at 09:28 PM
Attendance: 735. That's kind of weak for two nearby teams. I think there were more people at the Dunedin-CCC and Dunedin-Seminole games (being slightly sarcastic, but just a smidgen).
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:28 PM
way to go max
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:29 PM
Max Priest steps in to lead off the top of 6th.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:29 PM
i love my old school, but i dont want hilbert to win anything, hes gotten too far as is.....shouldnt even be in the state championship
Posted by: enovak | May 14, 2008 at 09:30 PM
He walks
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:30 PM
Character could also play into a D1 offer. They don't too many scholarships to give out. The coaches might not take a chance on a player leaving in the middle of the season.
Posted by: john | May 14, 2008 at 09:30 PM
The remarkably talented and handsome Mike Kumbat steps in. (Yeah, okay, so we're trying to make up for misidentifying him earlier).
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:31 PM
We got your point enovak...please let us enjoy the current game. Please?
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:31 PM
R U sure this time Cotey?
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 09:32 PM
just for a thought.....NYY 2- RAYS 1 top 9.
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Kumbat strikes out looking. Here comes Max Kreuter, the hero of the game so far.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Kreuter singles to left. Runners of 1st and 2nd for Casey Turgeon, the fab frosh who is 0-1 but has reached twice.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Sweat is in no way a nice kid. I know from first hand knowledge he got into it and lost with every single player on our team both in the spring and in American Legion. Whenever there was an argument I can assure you that not a single player jumped to the back of Jamison, perhaps with the occasional exception of Ben Sweat when he was still playing ball. If the fact that he never had the backing of any of his teammates speaks to his character at all, then you all will have learned a bit about Mr. Sweat. And as for the poster who commented on his transfer, not only was that a problem, but also his character. Jamison's poor attitude and the fact that much of the time he is simply uncoachable is a deterrant regardless of what his raw skill set may be. As Yogi Berra said, 90% of the game is half mental; Jamison Sweat does not have the mindset of a winner, he is instead only driven by carnal instinct.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:33 PM
There would be more dunedin fans but its in sarasota and its at 8 clock and there were charging the buses 35dollars to get to the game thats 45dollars for a high school state-semi final game
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:33 PM
the rays need some of the falcons hitting
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:34 PM
idk if kumbat is actually handsome or no but dunedin is full of some massive, goofy lookin kids
kollenbaum and rogers are 2 of the ugliest kids iv ever seen on a baseball field
but theyre huge and can stroke
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:34 PM
And for the record, I also have inside knowledge he and Mr. Jake Rogers got into it and once again, nobody was there for him. It is truly a shame that such a talent went to such a waste of a person.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Turgeon singles to right, and the bases are loaded...errrr, juiced for Jake Rogers.
Rogers has a homer already, and has scored twice.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Ball high. (It's 8-3, top of 6)
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:35 PM
Ball 2 high.
Foul for strike 1.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:35 PM
Good call Cotey
Posted by: Tim | May 14, 2008 at 09:36 PM
Ball 3 in dirt. 3-1, bases cranked.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:36 PM
lol at dude rating the players looks
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:36 PM
Full count. Strike looking.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Ball four. 9-3 Dunedin. Rogers gets an easy RBI.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:37 PM
I pitch for PHUHS and all I know is Jamo and Diaz got into it and that was when he wanted to leave because he was afraid of Diaz.
Posted by: Joey Z | May 14, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Quit whining novak - if you were good enough you would have made it. Nothing more pathetic then someone who thinks the system screwed them because they aren't man enough to admit they weren't good enough. As far as you guys went, plenty of scouts were watching. Get over it, you are really embarrassing yourself.
Posted by: Lester | May 14, 2008 at 09:38 PM
What inning is it?
Posted by: falconfever | May 14, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Jamison Sweat is coming up, with the bases loaded, to face a new pitcher, Chase Sparkman.
A homer makes it a 10-run game. I'm just throwing that out there.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Seminole should be there!
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:38 PM
i use false names like joey z on blogs and other names
Posted by: richard ander | May 14, 2008 at 09:39 PM
no one is afraid of diaz lol
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:39 PM
seminole didn't win....nothing else to say
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:39 PM
Top of 6, 9-3
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:39 PM
how will the district play out next year for 5a-9
i know that dunedin is losing a ton of people and all theyll have pretty much is turgeon and norris
ct is in the same predicament w/ a bunch of seniors leaving
i think phu and east lake will be pretty loaded although phu's pitching is lacking a lot
i think east lake will take home districts next year
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:40 PM
Sweat in an 0-2 hole.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:40 PM
Thanks.
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:40 PM
and we have our first el fan appearance of the night
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Joey told me to write one as him. Sweat was real afraid of Diaz. He downright left the field before a game against DUNEDIN when Diaz was yelling at him.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:41 PM
diaz can go s a d
Posted by: phu blows | May 14, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Sweat makes it 10-3 with a sac fly to CF. Runners move up to 2nd and 3rd on a throwing error. Kollenbaum strolls to the plate.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:41 PM
Mr. Encina, I thought you said Brandon was good?
Posted by: Brad Hamilton | May 14, 2008 at 09:41 PM
He does stroll doesn't he
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:42 PM
Go to MySpace boys...we want to enjoy the game.
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:42 PM
Is this about baseball..the game or is this about personal issues
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:42 PM
What's your name PHU blows? If nobody is afraid of Diaz I'm sure you wouldn't mind him knowing who had that to say...
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:42 PM
lol at phu kids talking smack, they can only do that in their rooms on their computers that their parents got them or maybe on their new iphone lol
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:43 PM
Kollenbaum grounds out.
Heading into bottom of 6, it's 10-3 Dunedin.
I'm off to find a column. Bobby Putnam, who is warming up with the pen, is getting the ball the rest of the way.
Posted by: Cotey | May 14, 2008 at 09:43 PM
I compel you to deny the validity of my 9:33 post.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:44 PM
all north county is soft shut up and watch the game or whatever u wanna call this
Posted by: someone | May 14, 2008 at 09:44 PM
lol at phu kid asking for real name but wont give his
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:44 PM
actually i think clearwater will be decent next year w/ a core group of juniors comin up
o brien, ortega, griffith, eastman, gilman, mccormick, and gourlay should form a pretty good offense next year
their pitching will be very suspect tho w/ the likely 1-2 being o brien and ortega both of whom hav a combined 4 games of pitching experiene in hs
Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:44 PM
And once again, if you want me to get off the computer all I need is a name and a destination. I'll bring Diaz for laughs.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:45 PM
It was given a while ago. Richard Anderson.
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:46 PM

you forgot one great player 4 ct
Brad James is an animal he just couldnt play this year because he couldnt run his 6 30 mile in time
next year hell tear up pinellas w/ his phenomenal offense and defense

Kreuter has thrown 103 pitches going into seventh. Rogers is warming up in the pen.
Posted by: Bob Putnam | May 14, 2008 at 09:52 PM
I don't have spanish class, thanks for the effort though. I'd rather have a steady defensive lardass than an errant throwing showboat with a poor attitude. And as for Dhani, he's Indian and South American, thanks for continuing to play to the stereotype of American ignorance. It is people like you why the greatest nation in the world has a bad light shone upon it. How does it feel to be an embaressment to 300 million people?
Posted by: Don Juan | May 14, 2008 at 09:52 PM
Thanks Putnam, Coty and Encina....these baseball updates are nice for us people who couldn't get down there!!!

Posted by: | May 14, 2008 at 09:54 PM
