Newsome's Lovell commits to South Florida C.C.

Newsome senior centerfielder Ethan Lovell has committed to play college baseball at South Florida Community College, Wolves coach Zach Walker said Wednesday.

SfccWhile playing an excellent centerfield, Lovell, who hit .403 with 32 runs scored, 24 stolen bases, 19 walks, sparked the Wolves from the leadoff spot. Newsome (17-9) which advanced to the Class 5A region semifinals.

South Florida C.C., located in Avon Park, has an outstanding reputation for advancing its baseball players to four-year programs. Among the South Florida C.C. alums who made their major-league debuts this past season: Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Litsch, Rockies pitcher Darren Clarke and former Durant standout Ryan Raburn, a utility player for the Tigers.
