Plant City to play for state flag football title
What will be at stake when the Plant City flag football team faces Tallahassee Leon tonight in West Boca Raton? Only the state championship.
Just moments ago, the Raiders defeated Jupiter 26-19 in one state semifinal. Leon beat Parkland Douglas in the other earlier today, 27-14.
"We played well," Plant City coach Randy Harris said.
There isn't much time to rest. In fact, the final starts at 7.
"We're excited, but right now we're trying to get a little rest and get some food in their bodies," Harris said. "We just got back to the hotel. We're trying to find them something light to eat."
Plant City enters the championship game at 15-0.
In the semifinals, quarterback/safety Quet Shaw passed for three scores and ran for another. Receiver Danielle Kersey had seven catches and a touchdown.
"The offense had to pick us up a little bit," Harris said. "And the defense made plays when it had to at the end."
