Sharks' Murray signs with PHCC
Nature Coast senior pitcher/catcher Travis Murray, who started behind the plate (and called the pitches) when he wasn't on the mound, has signed with Pasco-Hernando Community College, Sharks coach Bob Shepard confirmed.
The Sharks' top hitter this past season (.586, 25 RBI), Murray finished 5-3 with a 1.93 ERA on the mound, typically drawing the most difficult starts. Two of his three losses were to Class 4A region finalist Pasco.
Shepard also said second baseman Kenny Treverton, a .389 hitter as a senior, has not formally signed with PHCC, but will attend the school and play for the Conquistadors. Treverton was successful on all 21 of his stolen-base attempts in 2008.
