Another big day for Calvin Smith
Freedom alum Calvin Smith, a standout sprinter for the Florida Gators, had another strong day Friday at the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. In the 4x100 relay finals, he teamed with Chris Rainey (also a Gator football player), Terrell Wilks and Jeremy Hall to place third in 38.84 seconds (LSU won in 38.42). Smith also competed in the 400 semifinals, and took third in his heat (45.64) to qualify for the finals. Elsewhere, Wharton alum Teona Rogers of Florida State, failed to advance in the 100 hurdles. She was sixth in her heat.
