Success a "team" effort for Grajales
Brandon wrestling sensation Eric Grajales, who was featured in today's Times, will attempt to make the Olympic team when he competes at the U.S Trials in the men's 121-pound Greco-Roman division Friday. When interviewed last weekend, Grajales credited much of his success to others, particularly Russ Cozart, his coach at Brandon and with the Brandon Wrestling Club.
"I've been with him since I was 4," Grajales said. "By far, he's one of the best coaches in the country. He tries to push people to the ultimate of what they can do."
Other people also deserve credit, Grajales and his father, Cesar Grajales, said. They include:
-His Brandon teammates. "We train real hard," Eric Grajales said. "I've got great workout partners."
-His older brother, Cesar Anthony Grajales, a former Brandon standout who recently completed his junior season at the University of Pennsylvania.
-Tim Norstrem, a family friend who helps Eric with his weight training.
"It's really a team effort," the elder Grajales said.
