Rivard resigns as AHN softball coach
Holy Names softball coach Roger Rivard has resigned, athletic director Pete Young announced Tuesday.
Rivard, who was 31-14 in two seasons, took the Jaguars to the region playoffs both seasons. AHN reached the region semis in 2006 and qualified for the region quarterfinals this past season.
"We were very fortunate to have Roger as our head coach the past two seasons," Young said in a written statement. "He stepped up when we needed a head coach and he provided steady leadership and expertise for the softball program. He will be dearly missed."
Young said in a release that Rivard cited "family and business reasons" for resigning. Rivard owns a local car dealership and his son will be a senior at Jesuit next season.
Young said a search for Rivard's replacement will begin immediately. Those interested in applying can reach him at pyoung@holynamestpa.org or 813-839-5371, Ext. 320
